'99 Accord EX identifiers ?
I'm looking at getting another Accord EX or what is supposed to be an EX. It's a '99 Coupe with a 4 Cyl./5 speed and is loaded to the gills. White with grey leather, factory 6 CD changer and all the other bells and whistles, alloy rims, moon roof blah, blah, blah but NOWHERE on the car does it say EX. Is this possible or is it just a really well equipped base level Accord ? Thanks.......
Do all the 6th gens come with f23??
I would also look at your VIN...plug it into either a carfax, your local DMV (when you get your registration) http://www.honda.com or http://www.edmunds.com

yes all the i4's are f23...the way you described it im sure its an EX becuase it would cost more to get all those goodies on an LX...by the way, what does it matter anyway? Both cars have the same everything except a few amentities which u already said this car has.

I thought it had alloy wheels...but does it have a sunroof?

Nope, no sunroof
From what I know, you can tell the EX by:
sunroof,
rear disc brakes,
and POSSIBLY a wood trim panel for the console because mine didnt come with one and I had to put one on.
An SE is everything that an ex has but with better trim and speakers and its own peculiar rims, but I believe I have drum brakes

THE VINS..
the ex 4cylinder have rear disc brake and ABS
while lx dont have a sunroof, rear disc brakes.
cd changer can be added but not abs and brake knuckle so yeah.

wood trim was only available as a dealer option, so if it was already installed, the dealership did it.
the OEM sideskirts on the LX were black and not body-colored, but i'm not sure about the SE's.
since you mentioned you have leather, only the EX models that came w/ leather from the factory would have audio controls on the steering wheel.
EX w/ leather might have had the homelink system (programmable buttons for garage door openers, etc.) built in, but i'm not sure.
i think the EX models were the only ones to have auto-off headlights as well, but there's no visible way to tell if the car has it except for leaving the headlights on (w/ the key removed from car) and closing the door. headlights will turn off in 15 seconds after dome light turns off.
oh, btw, when honda reintroduced the SE in 01, they came with moonroofs.

i can't believe i forgot the obvious one... (auto only)
and yeah, you're right... the SE was offered in 2000, but only in 4dr, and then again in 2002, not 2001 as i originally said. in 2002 it was offered with both 2 and 4drs.

OK so it looks like it really is an EX based on equipment but why no EX script anywhere ? Not that I'd really want it, just curious. Not sure if I'll get it at this point because of the 5 speed, my Left knee is toast and that was the main reason for selling my '91 EX, but it sure is a nice car and a blast to drive.............
Thanks all.
Thanks all.
the car might have been repainted, or maybe the owner decided he liked it better without the emblem. i took the "accord" and "ex" emblems off of mine, and i think it looks a lot cleaner w/o them.
Hippie, if you are reading about the SE, forget about it, the SE didn't start until 2000. As stated above, in the '99 model year, only the EX came with the moonroof.

The "EX" would be on the back of the car, but as noted above the previous owner probably took it off when painting it or whatever and just didn't put it back on.
I know that this has absolutely nothing to do with your question, but if you see a 6th generation in a parking lot you can tell the year fairly easily. If the side mirrors don’t fold, it is a ’98. If the mirrors fold but there are no tether strap holders in the back dash, it’s a ’99. If it has the tether straps and the same front end / taillights as the ’99, it’s the ’00. If it has a different front end (fascia and hood) and taillight, it’s either an ’01 or ’02, I haven’t figured a way to easily tell the difference between them yet.

Doesn't appear to have been repainted but it's possible. The "ACCORD" script is on the back but no "EX" behind it but I'm certain now it IS an EX.
Thanks again all, if I do get it I'll be back but it may be a while.
