i dont understand how all these places do emissions.. i am an inspector on Long Island and we do it on a dyno.. it goes by HC's .. Nox... and CO's.. sorry man i wish i could help.. i know having the motor at normal operating temp is key for the emission tests by me

It is done by the county. I live in Northern VA where there are emissions, but since I have resided in Harrisonburg for the past few years (for school) I am registered down here with no emissions. Somehow I got them (the city of harrisonburg) to set my mailing address as my home in northern virginia so they just send me the $15 renewal to my house up there, i pay it, and they send me my sticker. No fairfax taxes or emissions

i was driving the car home and it was about 10 miles so it time for the car to be warm but then it sat in line at the emissions place for about 1 hour so it cooled down, but watching them i noticed they let the car run in the bay for about 5-10 before starting the testing.. maybe it jjust needs to be warmed up more..

Trust me on this one it sucks b/c of the cost of it. Go to a motorcycle shop or track get some 110 or higher octane about three gals put in your car when empty the fill it up with bp or amoco gas and try it again. If you have to retard your ignition timming while getting emissions done

how far should i retard the ignition to make it pass? i noticed today and it was doing it last week that it felt like it was bogging a little when i would drive the car.. and sometimes stall.. before i take it back to get it tested agian im gonna go ahead and replace the plugs, wires, fuel filter add some injector cleaner to the car and some of the emmissions stuff you can get at walmart that guarantees you will pass.. i checked the cap and rotor and they look good almost brand new hell the motor only has 67k miles on it.. how do i know if that needs to be replaced or not?

dont put the emissions stuff in just get the high octane. try it first without it retarded. If it doesnt work go about 4 degrees less than what it is suppose to have.
