Awesome pics Chris! Like I said in the other thread with NHRA pics, it was great to meet you and hopefully we'll meet up at future races.

Here are the pics I got that weekend, I figure you may be interested in what I ended up with: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=845399

I was gonna say that was a Darrell *** engine because he always used to paint the block black on the old green Neon.

Those boots are rediculous!!!!

Black is actually the factory color of neon and stratus blocks. Darrell runs a 2.4L status block BTW which easily swaps into a neon...

That is one hellacious hole though. Looks like Mohlers block last year when the front motor mount flexed causing the crank to smack the block!

Earl
why do you say things like this.

Your quote. ( Aluminum rods strike again )

Do you think that a steel rod would hold in a top fuel car or a alky dragster

THAT IS A BIG NO

That rod in that pic is one of the best rods ever built.

Jarrod Silvers ran the same rods and he has 324 passes on them. I know what you are gona say he does not go fast. ( True ) He ran 11 8.8,s. But the fact is he still has 324 passes on them.
I know that you like pauter they make good rods. I have been using them on all of my VW stuff for years. Buy this is the thing wait till you start pushing your motors on the alky 50 to 60 psi. I dont think there is a steel rod that will hold. If they do good for you and if they dont. I know I can get you a good deal on some Aluminum rods

Just a bit of info for you.

All these guys have the money to get anything they want but they choose to use Aluminum. These are some of the people I know using Aluminum

Ricky Dela cruise
Leevon Eisele
Max Ha
Bisi
Tom J
Steph
Scranton
Silvers
Venom
JJ Olsen
Brent PFI
All of the top fuel Dragsters
All of the Alky dragster
I just had to add to my list of people using Aluminum

The Reason Top Fuel, Alky, Pro-Mod...etc Run Aluminum is because it absorbs detonation. A Pro Mod Motor runs on such the ragged edge that it would pound out Rod-Bearings w\ a Steel Rod. Aluminum isn't stronger...It Compresses. For the price, you can't find anything lighter. A better choice would be Titanium, but @ $400+ a rod it's alittle more cost prohibitive.

Not sure if Darrell *** runs GRP Rods anymore but that is what he used to run and they were pretty beefy! Looked like they would take quit a bit of abuse.

I wander what caused that one to shoot out of the block?

Super dave
No matter what you have as a rod and you see detonation it will pound out the rod bearings.

And titanium for a rod on a pro mod car will never work because they are brittle.
I have worked with many pro mod teams and let me tell you money is no object to these guys. Aluminum is the only thing that lasts for Top Fuel Pro mod and Top Alky they have tried them all.
If you need some more Info about Top Fuel Pro Mod or Alky dragsters just let me know I may be able to answer your questions.
