Can anyone tell me about the 919?
i can tell you its sold out. We were only getting one and its sold already.
I can tell you has the last gen 900RR motor with Fuel Injection. Its a simple simple machine. Weighs in at about 419 or so dry and will wipe the floor with the FZ1. Definatly a cool retro bike.

"naked bikes" or "retro bikes" A more upright riding positions that is better for longer rides than a sprt bike, but you give up somethings. Like hardcore handling and power.
As said....'98 918cc Fireblade engine revised intake ports, cams and timing. Compression down, 4-2-1 fashion exhaust system with ugly covers all sticking out 112bhp/68lb ft of torque. '96 blade calipers, 43mm cartridge forks (probably reworked CBR6) its a parts bin special and with a bit of messing will be a really fun bike.

on the one hand, there isint much use for 'hardcore handling' on the street...same for power, unless you like drag racing cages (i confess i do).
so i dont see much use for extra stiff suspensions, uncomfortable riding positions, and engines tuned to have peak torque at 10000+ rpm.
now, with the rational side of my brain out of the way...
it is cool to be riding around on the latest race replica machine that howls like a F1 car leaving every stoplight, and riding on a machine that has the lastest cutting edge features that make the squids say 'oooh' and 'aaah'
but, honestly...i dont think i could give up the comfort of my 'naked street bike' for more deadly performance and a suspension thats track tuned, but makes potholes think of your chiropractor.

i am a little torn on this subject though...
