Dyno'd my Civic... what you guys think - low 400's on pump gas
closed deck H22 (older) with bensen sleeves. CP pistons 9:1, crower rods. removed balance shafts. lightened crank. stock head no port work, 1mm oversize valves, stock cams, crower springs and retainers. stock cam gears. golden eagle intake manifold, str 68mm throttle body. we custom made the turbo header and exhaust with a precision SC61 turbo. The car was running about 15 psi on this run.
The HP is surging a little, its either something we need to tune out in the boost controller (SBC-iD), or someone reputable mentioned that when they run cars with no intake on the turbo it can sometimes get like that, and he thinks that an intake with a filter would smooth out the air coming into it... sounds like a possibility perhaps. we are running open turbo right now.
the AEM wideband reads a richer A/F than the dyno was, there is no telling exactly which one is accurate, but there is quite a difference in the readings, up to 1 point sometimes. the EMS says we are running richer than this graph. max timing is 14 degrees to 18 by redline.
another concern of mine is the powerband is very high... you can see the engine wants to keep reving. I have the prodrive oil pump gears but I am not sure how i feel about reving a h22 to 9000RPM on a regular basis.
the car is running the AEM EMS with HKS 1000cc injectors. The number 1 cylinder was running leaner then the rest, and individual cylinder trim was added... someone told me that these denso injectors are not balanced, and perhaps thats the problem... I think I will swap to Precision 880s.
here are some pics of the setup: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=848968
next comes race gas and high boost. here is the graph.

Thanks,
Charles

yes a T3, its one of the older SC61s i guess they have newer versions now.
the dyno graph is extremely choppy, i need to go over some datalogs to see if its from the boost controller or what the hell is doin it. hopefully have that worked out soon then i can jack the boost and see what shes really got.

are you running the stock honda ignition?

The smoothing on that dyno graph is on 1, most people print them out on 5 cause it makes it smoother and makes it look like a better tune. It's good to look at it on 1 though cause you can see detonation or misfires easier.

ok.
tony1: thanks... we always keep the smoothing to 1 on our dyno unless the customer requests otherwise, for the reasons you state.
do you think that the waviness I have there could be detonation tho? I figured if it was bad detonation it would be sharper jumps, rather then smooth like that... I mean I have seen some graphs that are REALLY choppy like up and down 75hp every 75-100RPM...
I dont know... I really want this worked out, The car should be running very clean.

it looks like the ign is crapping out...
as far as the wideband reading... if the one on the dyno jet was farther away from the engine it will read leaner, i have noticed this on our own dyno.

i dunno... i have really come to trust the wideband on my dyno. We tested and compared with an FJO in the downpipe on another car and they were within .1 of another, only the dyno had about 150rpm lag.

looks like ignition to me. I would try closing the gap on the plugs and maybe go with a colder heat range. Your ignition might not be strong enough at that gap. I had a 7al on my race car and I was blowing the spark out at 30psi and gapped a .026 Closed the gap up and the miss went away.
Just an idea
