Does anybody know how Comptech has become (seemingly) the official performance parts supplier of Acura in the U.S.? Hell, my dealer can order Comptech parts and put them and I'll have no hassels with the factory warranty - even if it was caused by a Comptech part.

There are Comptech banners, brochures, and accessories just sitting around dealerships - not to mention the cars sitting on the lot with dealer-installed Comptech parts waiting to be sold.

What gives?

I suppose that Honda America is happy with the level of engineering that supports the Comptech product line.

 

Back when the IMSA GTP's like the Nissans, Toyotas, etc. were running, Comptech fielded a GTP Light car under the Acura banner. If my memory is correct, Comptech kicked some major *** in its class. Hence I presume that relation has evolved into the current relationship now.

 

Ive noticed that its not like this everywhere...

The dealership where I bought my GSR told me that comptech was dropped from being offered on Acura's. I have a friend who is the parts and service manager for another Acura dealership and they sell and warranty Comptech parts. I think maybe Acura 'officially' dropped Comptech but many dealerships still honor Comptech stuff. Who knows.
