Will this secure a car more?
I was thinking about buying a s2k. It's been a year since my teg was stolen. I been hesitating on whether I should buy something nice to drive with my insurance money. Been driving my old 94 accord 4 door. The damn a/c compressor is getting bad fast, barely cold anymore. Reading all these posts about the s2k being stolen is beginning to sound like the Integra forum real fast.
Here's two thoughts. I know when I was in school, the campus police used to put boots on our cars when we didnt pay tickets. I know sometimes you can remove them after some effort if they didnt install them correctly (like deflating your tires for one) or depending on the boot they use. Anyone use a boot to secure their car?
How about rigging your antilock brakes to clamp shut when you leave your car so they cant tow it that easy???
I dunno, these are just random thoughts I have. All I know is that I dont have a garage to put my car in.

The s2000 is no where near the theft rate of integras/civics/camry's/accords b/c the s2k parts aren't interchangable with other hondas. That's what made the ITR such a high theft rate car. I think you're worrying too much about this. Don't mess with wheel boots and your ABS system. If a theif wants your car, they'll get it either way. Use common sense and good judgement when parking your car in less than ideal places if your sporting dubs with spinners and a giant stereo system.

totally agreeed. the only thing that is really desirable from an s2k would be the front two wheels (can work w/ 5 lug conversions on civic/crx/integra) seats (if top is slashed, or window smashed n' broken into) and the antenna. the antenna is probably one thing that you might lost.

ya, these threads have been around the civic and integra forums forever. There's really nothing you can do to secure your car. The only thing you can do is make a theif not want it
today I ran into a hot rod builder. I asked him about the brake question. They said it would work, provided 2 things. 1: it is not a good idea to engage the brakes full time, as this would cause the brake system to be in constant high pressure. In the long run, the lines would rupture. 2: It would work on a rear wheel drive car more, by installing a solenoid and hooking it up to the rear axle, clamping down on the wheels from moving.
But they thought this was overkill. I didnt think so, considering I dont have a garage to put a car in and that a frigging police sargent lives up the block when my teggy got taken. here's something funny, the police sargent in charge of auto theft had his car stolen at home too.

dude...
well, i didn't say anything about it when you first mentioned it. but jsut like the guys said @ the hotrod shop...its very extreme. the best thing you can do, i would say is to get low jack and or a good *** alarm system. for example, i had the clifford rsx3.5 before i totalled my car (its actually for sale now) and its a two way responder system. if someones breaking into your shiet, and you're in your house...your alarm will page the remote. http://www.clifford.com/matrix...t.asp . thats a kick *** system if you have all the options added, i had the rs3 before, but then my work (best buy) let me swap out the rs3, and go w/ the rsx3.5 when that came out (for no charge
)but anyways, go w/ that alarm...i swear by it
