I've seen my friend run low 14 second times with the same set up on his '99 EX. You probably just need to work on your launch some more.
There are too many variables to consider that could me hurting your times, such as: Driver skill, temperature, tire psi, engine tuning just to name a few. Are you at a high alttude where you live? There are a lot of things to consider, but I know that the set up you have is capable of much faster 1/4 mile times.

Hey, do you know Kevin, aka. kmotion? He has a 97 EX with turbo and plates of "1TUFFEX" or something like that. He has a website in the making, http://www.kmotion.net I just didn't know if there were a lot of turbocharged Honda's in Hawaii.

yeah, get an intercooler, and up the boost to 7psi, you should run some mid 14s then.

I think a straight thru cat will help out a lot. Also, run stock or maybe 1 degree retarded timing. At 5.5 psi the charge temps don't get that hot, an intercooler would help a little, but not really a necessity. I'm guessing that maybe a BOV would help- if you don't shift very fast, the turbo will have to re-spool, it almost looks like that may be happening by looking at your times.

Here is my first and worst run at 5.5 psi- I bogged the car bad off the line, and the clutch is slipping badly. I was able to hit a 14.757 at 94.46 mph with the shot clutch.

60 ft.- 2.592
330 ft. - 6.631
1/8 - 9.974
mph - 72.92
1/4 - 15.226
mph - 94.28

Here is an average run at 5.5 psi with a new clutch and 5lb lightened flywheel.

60 ft. - 2.298
330 ft. - 6.184
1/8 - 9.391
mph - 75.72
1000 ft. - 12.138
1/4 - 14.478
mph - 95.66

And finally, here is my best run at 5.5 psi.

60 ft. - 2.171
330 ft. - 5.981
1/8 - 9.149
mph - 76.75
1000 ft. - 11.862
1/4 - 14.172
mph - 96.94

These run were on stock tires, with the spare, jack, and passenger seat removed.

- Turbo97EX - yea i know kevin ANA Kmotion.

there are quite a bunch of turbo honda's here in hawaii.
we have lots of them on the street w/ motor swaps and turbo kits.
we also have our share of 10 second hondas, a 13.1 sec neon, and a bunch of other fast imports

- we dont have emmissions here so i could run a straight pipe, will that help thou? i know i'll get that damm CEL light, but will the car go in to a limp mode?

- intercooler? i want one, looking at the greddy Type31 med size intercooler. i can get it for 750.00 shipped is this a good deal? if not can someone let me know where i can get a better price??

- BOV goes in on monday (tomorrow) finally i waited for 5 months for the damm BOV flange to come in from one shop and it still didnt so i ordered it from another shop and it came in 2 weeks, i'm no longer doing business with that first shop!

make sure you dont have any boost leaks,,you got a boost gauge right? easy mod to pick up some ET,add 100 octane unleaded and turn boost up to 7/8psi.

I agree... maybe even low 15's at best. It's not going to be fast. I had the same setup before.

Hey welcome to h-t! I was wondering when you'd leave the uninformative msg board you seemed to frequent before.

That's definatley slow unless your time isn't taking in high altitude (if you're at a high altitude track). I ran a best of 15.5 at 3psi ont he GReddy kit in my 98 EX..

whats up with all these slow times. I thought u could make a singe camfast. Is it a single cam or greddy turbo that suck...greddy blows. What does a stock single cam run. What are people running with fully built motors ad turbo kits that are good like rev hard or custom? Some one please elighten me.

putting turbo on a car to run low 15's and high 14's sucks, if spent all that time and money to get a timeslip of 15.3 or 15.5 I would be super pissed.

dude i have a 97 ex and i am boosting 8 psi now and i haven't run at the track yet but i know it is in the 14's cause i raced a turbo sentra that runs a 14.7 and i beat him by like 3 car lengths. the kit wasnt made for the y8 engine plus our coupes weigh more than a 5th gen so take that into consideration. if you used the greddy blue box then you can boost to 8 psi w/o mods like a msd btm . i hated the kit the 3rd week i had it on, but i is the best for the price. get a boost controller. i bought the turbo xs mbc, it's alright but try an electronic controller. stick w/ it and if you have 17's or somnthing get rid of them. i have 15" kosei k1's gunmetal and they are the best wheel for the price in my opinoin. nstick w/ it

oh and the greddy kit doesnt suck, take into account where the hp is made compared to other kit's like rev hard, fmax, and drag. their peak hp is made at higher rpm's. is daily driving at those rpm's? no. yah you can make more power w/ more boost, but you also have to build the bottom end. they are good if your are eventually gonna build the bottom. but if your not the gredddy kit is great for the price. that's my .02 take it or leave it
