does a quiet exhaust necessarily = more backpressure
do straighter exhaust systems = less back pressure = less torque
more torque = more backpressure = less straight ??
what about quietness , does that mean more backpressure
or does it have something to do with the mufflers
ive looked on some other forums but i cant find like an exact answer
i am trying to apply this in terms of restrictiveness

interesting i would have thought more restrictive = less velocity haha thanks i learned off that reply
would u say that quieter = generally more restrictive (the whole system restrictiveness)

i have found a LOT of posts about backpressure , and just so that i dont bring the whole backpressure **** back to this post i will jsut sum it all up to one question ,
how restrictive is the tanabe hyper medallion : ) compared to others ,
i know that it is pretty quiet but does that mean more restriction? i also know that its pretty straight
ive been comparing it to the apexi WS and to other louder N1 style exhausts,
does backpressure=restriction basically

i dont think quietness necessarily means more backpressure/restriction. i think its how much packing the muffler canister has. a Tanabe Racing medallion is super loud because the canister is sooo small and its straight through. An Apex Dunk is quieter because there is more sound absorbing packing in the canister BUT it's also straight through. thats just my logic on this i might be wrong.
hmm i have read good reviews for both the WS and the hyper medallion i think i might just settle for the one that is less restrictive , im not sure how they compare to others like the Apex n1 or skunk2 or 5zigens in terms of restrictiveness

depending on where the sound is generated and flows from:
to lower sound you must restrict some air flow,
a lot of those "loud" mufflers are due to crappy design and material.. they are super thin metal and rattle and vibrate. which gives that buzzy bee sound.
you have to find that happy medium.. wonder why stock are so quiet, cause its restrictive as hell
