Default Power loss, Knock sensor? (searched)

My brothers 02 EP sometimes has a power loss at about 4800 rpm, the strange thing is that it doesnt always happen, sometimes it will cut out in first gear, sometimes in second, it only loses power for a split second then it hops up to 5000 and runs fine. It has no sputtering or noise from the engine. He is throwing a knock sensor code, would that cause power loss, we are stumped. the only mod he has is an Intake.

Yes this could cause power loss. The pcm retards timing when it gets a knock signal. The senor could be giving a false signal or you really have some spark knock.
