Need help with tranny
I have a 99 civic ex with around 115k on it. I am noticing that there is a whining noise present when driving at low speeds. its seems almost as it something is grinding slightly. Its a sound that is continuos and is noticable only when the car is in gear. Any idea what that could be, just trying to get a general idea, before tearing everything down.

i drive a 94 civic ex coupe. My tranny lost reverse last night. I was having the same noises. I beleive it is the throw out bearing. I had the same thing happen to my mustang. oops, can I say mustang on here?

if it only does it when in gear then it is not the throw out bearing. it is the main input shaft bearing if it wines when down shifting.
