An important thing to consider.
Make sure whichever lug nuts you purchase are the correct "style" for your wheels (i.e., tapered/conical/tuner or acorn).

Very good point. I want some other lugs, but with some OEM rims, anything other than acorn style is asking for it.

Typical OEM Honda would be most similar to the "Ball/Radius" nuts in this illustration. Many aftermarket wheels use the "Conical/Tapered" style lugs. As for why aftermarket wheels use this style, my theory is that it probably has something to do with the fact that many aftermarket wheels aren't hub-centric, and instead rely on the greater centering action of the tapered nuts to properly center the wheel during installation.

As stated, the conical/tapered wheels are likely not hubcentric and in using the ball/radius nuts the wheel would not be properly centered.

Possibly improper centering, uneven distribution of the load, higher stresses, etc. If you visualize the situation, you can imagine how the "ball" of the lug tightening against a tapered seat would result in all of the force being applied at one point, rather than across the entire seat. In the worst case, this could even lead to eventual loosening of the nuts.

The general consensus is that they don't really work and may only get a theif to pass on your car. But they are really easy to get off.
