Default FS. 2002 yamaha R1 for sale

im helping out my friend. he just crashed his 2002 red/blakc/white R1 with about 7500 miles on it. just happend last night 5/2/04.the bike has a clean title and he has the pink slip on hand. he lost control doing a wheelie thats how the bike got messed up. the brake lever is bent, the rear brake lever is bent also. brake fluid reserve hose is busted. as far as i know the frame, forks, subframe are all straight.motor runs strong. its mostly cosmetic damage. there is a oil leak on the right side of the bike cause thats where the bike fell. might be the cover is cracked. bike still starts and runs. well if you have any questions just let me know or email me at slowh22eghatch@yahoo.com or reply here. the ohlins steering damper and the pipe does not come with the sale of the bike.it comes with a stock pipe. here is a link to some pictures of the bike.
right now hes taking best reasonable offer.

at least he didnt get hurt that much. he has a broken colar bone and a bruised left forearm.

yeh those pictures don't work....broken colar bone hurts like a bitch, i broke mine this winter.....most pain i have ever been in, anyway , update that link so we can see how much damage is done, wouldn't it be cheaper for him to get it covered under insurance? hes gonna lose ALOT of money on sellng a wrecked bike..

Doing a wheelie? R1's aren't the greatest for wheelies... Not really a balance point...

but they got torque to bring it up really easy....so clutching it up and it would loop preatty easy i imagine.

If I had an r1 I would keep it around 7-8oclock and only use throttle. I don't really think holding a wheelie at balance point is that great anyway, plus the R1's have the oil pump in a bad place and they get starved pretty quick.

looks like he could get good money for it seeing that most/all of the damage is cosmetic

I ride a '03 954 to mess around and I just got a '03 600RR for canyon/track days. Aries called me the other day looking to see if I can get him a good deal on a helmet, but he never mentioned that you got a bike too. That's why I wasn't sure which Gilbert you were. Who else from FT ended up buying a bike? For sure I'll call you to go ride. Lates!

BTW: I'm still bitter about the R1 Damn... 20 fockin minutes too late!
