spun rod bearing - where do i buy more - install ?
I spun a rod bearing on rod #4 (cylinder closest to dizzy..) I want to know if it is worth it buying all new bearings and replacing them all, or if I should just attempt to use the 200k d16z6 block i have in the back of the "shop" van.
Does anyone have pics of rod bearing installs or any tips I should follow?
Anything will help.

replace all the bearings...
this way you dont have to screw around doing it again next time ...
concequences of a spun bearing gone bad? messed up crank? or worse?

Very true. But i would take it to a shop and have it done because i heard its a bitch and half to do it. Also its probably cheaper and faster just to get a D series put in (once again something i heard).

well the cheaper and faster route is what i planned to do, but the z6 that i got has 200,000 miles on it, needs a waterpump and a headgasket, and I really don't know the overall condition of the engine.. so I am reluctant to waste the time installing it ... I need to find an engine with around 35k.. but most people act like their engine is gold.. So until I can afford to have it rebuilt, Im screwed I guess
just replace your rod bearings, it's not that hard to do! you don't even have to take the motor out, with a jack and 4 jack stands, you can lay on back and do it! after this you can do a compression test and find out, if it test out good, then change the timing belt, water pump and head gasket at the same time.
aare pistons and rods changed out as-necessary, or are they part of a rebuild?
Also, will installing a full head gasket set recude the chatter coming from the head? (wasn't really a problem, could stand to be quiter.. )

if i were to pull apart this z6 i have int he van, is there any way to visually tell if the block is useable with the high milage, or would i have to take the pistons and rods out to inspect everything? And since this engine isn't installed, would it be a good idea to replace the bearings in it?

do you have another car to drive? if so id probably just hold out till you can do a rebuild. i wouldnt put a motor in a boosted car that i ddint know the condition of. also, the noise from the head could very well be too loose of a valve lash
I don't plan on boosting it.. I am trying to sell the kit.. I can't afford to do the work necessary for the kit to be useful to me.. Plus in my del sol I got a best of a 15.4... I hate this pig.. wish someone would trade me for a 92-95 coupe or hatch..
