Which tires for my EG
I have a B18B with I/H/E and traction bars. also running koni yellows lowered most of the way down.
AS a daily driver i need decent mileage out of tires, but i will be running a seperate set of all season tires for the winter.
the rims are 15X7 and i am trying for 205-50-15s.
Any input would be nice for a noob. I have searched it but want your opinions.

I know you didn't ask, but this could influence your decision. If you are basing it on wear and saftey, it definitely will!

Sorry, they don't list them all, but the first choice was rated terribly... In a search for good tires, I like BF-Goodrich KDWS, also a couple of Pirellis (PZero & Scorpion Zero) and Yokohamas (420V Rated & AVID) came up. (They don't have a rating for every tire on the market, so if it isn't listed....)

NOKIAN HAKKAPELIITTA WR! THESE WINTER TYRES WILL WEAR BETTER PERFORM AS WELL AS THE FALKEN OR THE DUNLOP AND YOU WONT FIND A BETTER SNOW TIRE. THEY ARE AVAILABLE IN 205/50R15.
I had the Falken Azenis wear faster then other tires..Also wet traction sucks in my opinion..great dry traction for the money but don't last long..hope that helps
Come on guys common sense. The stickier the tire the faster it will wear. If you want a "performance" tire that lasts long you won't find one. I am running Falken Azenis 205-50-15 on gsr wheels and so far i really like them. I have about 1K on them and have driven them in the rain and they arent to bad.
EDIT: and yes the falkens azenis do wear pretty fast. I run them in the 1/4 and use them also to take corners fast. They work great for what i want them to do.

daily driven for the summer, i'd say Falken Azenis. a 200 treadwear is pretty bad. get a good alignment. i like the Yokohama AVS ES100's. might want to look into those.
What about Falken Ziex ZE 512?
Toyo Proxies 4?
Sumitomo HTR Z?
And does anyone think the kumho 712s are worth it? i have heard a lot of bad things about em.
and thanks a lot on the info, i am leaning toward the falken and also the dunlop fm maybe but im looking for a compramise of wear performance and most important as a turner on a budget Price.
Any more info yall have i need it. cant afford to screw this up.

What about Yoks, the EVS AS 100's are the **** and IMO 195/50's look better than 205, and with your setup ur arent gonna need the extra rubber on the road, at least check them out they are great tires...
i'd get the azenis. the amazing grip is well worth the faster wear. get a good alignment, don't do stunna burnouts on the street, rotate them often, and you'll get about 20-25k out of them. wet traction is fine despite what people who haven't used them say.
The NHTSA doesn't actually test tires - they leave it up to the manufacturer. That's why there are differences between different manufacturer's ratings. Comparing UTQG ratings is a poor method of comparing tires.
Actually driving a car with the tires on it is much better.
Most people who complain Falken Azenis have poor treadwear have either never owned them, or have never owned another performance tire. Also, most people that own Falken Azenis really have no use for them and don't understand what their real intended purpose is.

Umm . . . why would get get 15x7" wheels only to put 195s on them? Sounds counterproductive to me.

AS for the yoko the ones i want are too expencive and the avs100s have had a bad wrap round my way. bad traction and noise and other things from people who now use falkens and kumhos.
As for everyone elses input thanks again i am thinking of rodering my azenis next week (gotta love pay days).
Also i just recently went to one of those Mazda rev it up things, and dispite the suck A$$ mazda 3 performance i will say they all had azenis and the grip was amazing, even in sorry cars. and for anyone thinking of going to a mazda event, do it just ebing able to screw up someone elses car and tires is worth it.

Defonitly not looking for a drag tire. Might end up autoX next year but the class i am in i can not be competitive yet.
For the most part spirited street driving on curvy mountain roads, with occasional trips to autoX or similar event.
I need enough grip to do auto X, with as good tread wear as i can get at the best price.

since you said you wanted the tires to last. i have never owned a set of Azenis but everyone i know who uses them says they do not last nearly as long. Although, i have had two sets of 712's and they lasted w/ decent performance
youd save $40-$60 by getting 195s instead
is 10mm of tire really worth that much? Youre getting 5% more.
edit: and my response is: Get Firestone Firehawk indy 500's
the 500 is the treadwear rating which is nuts, and they get better consumer ratings than the dunlops and kumhos (shocked me too, i know)

Yes it is. You apparently don't know that much about tires.
First of all, 205/50/15 Azenis are actually 219mm wide, according to my ruler. Regardless of what Falken may call them, they are still physically wider than a 215. Second of all, Azenis have a very soft compound for a street tire. Hence the reason they grip very well and have a low treadwear rating.
But you probably wouldn't know anything about that, since you only judge tires by their rated width
Tires with a 500 treadwear rating have to suck, regardless of what people say about them. You have to remember that most people have never driven on anything other than all-seasons or touring tires, and therefore wouldn't know the first thing about performance tires. Don't base your decision solely upon what people say on the internet; go out and actually test drive different tires to form your own opinion.

Do you notice the only people that talk bad about Azenis are the ones that have never owned them. They are great tires. Go get yourself some buddy and then tell us how they are.

Well that settles it, I am getting teh azenis sports *** oon as i get over a broken/really bad sprained ankle. No point in tires if i cant drive.
Thanks all of you for your input. And by the way jwn7 i might just hold ya to that, but by far you are only one of hundreds betwee here and friends that suggest the falkens.

you talk about me being ignorant? Youre the one making blanket statements like "all tires with 500 treadwear suck"
he said himself that he wants a tire with decent mileage, and you recommend something he'll MAYBE get 15000 miles out of.
Sure azenis are great gripping tires, but theyre not practical in the least, especially for a daily driver.
Excuse me for judging a tire by its standardized rating.
I have my own opinions, but im not stupid enough to discount anything i havent experienced myself. Plus its not like i can just go try on a set of tires like a pair of pants, now can i?
Might want to look in the mirror if youre talking about ignorance.
