ok so its sunday and im turn on my car and a check engine light goes on, but i ignore it and leave to my friends house, i put it in gear and hit da gas and while im about to shift at about 4k it gets stuck at about 3800 and its like a fuel cut off, every gear, so im like ok...but it drives normaly, but my CEL is still on, so i just mind my buisness and go to my friends house thinking it was nothing big. an hour later i come back to my car i turn the key, the CEL came back on, i could hear it cranking, but it dosnt start ...i tried starting it a couple more times but it wouldnt start. so i left da car there and got a ride from my friend and went home because it was getting late. the next morning i get to da car and tried starting it again, and it works! and no CEL....what is going on? if my CEL dosnt come on can i still check to see what the code is?

 

Yes, I hear that when your CEL comes on it stores itself into the computer.
