I want an ITR....Is turboing safe?
Hello.
This is my first post here. I have a 93.5 Supra TT and frequently visit supraforums.com, although I've been reading these for a few weeks now.
I've been interested in a white 97-98' ITR for awhile, and am starting to regain interest in them.
I was curious if they were safe to turbo? I was told tonight that they can handle the bolt-on's and such, but turbo's werer a no-no, that it just couldn't be done.
Also, if anyone has any links to a site that would help a newbie like me, that would be great. Thanks.

The Compression on the ITR is rather high but turboing is not impossible. To run boost at safe levels you will need to build your engine. Good luck with your decision!!
first of all.......i wouldnt advise you to talk about turboing a R in this forum. in fact, several H-T type R owners may be on the way to your house right now with pitchforks and torches, best to go to the FI forum.
ive heard alot of stuff about how the R cant handle it, but ive been boosting for about a year now, 5psi most of the time, and 8 at the occasional stoplight battle. stock internals, stock ignition timing. compression is still fine, car still runs like a raped ape.

you can run 6 psi safely..if you build your bottom end.. like je pistons/block sleved.. the motor will take alot of boost....anything is possible..
The B18C is not made for turbo!!! For turbo you don't need high revs. I think it's cheaper and easier to put a complete turbo engine in your ITR...
dude...don't listen to some of these guys....go to the FI forum or IM me and I'll tell ya what needs to be done to do it safely.
