How hard is it to swap the guts of a tranny into another casing?
Why one case is cracked but the rest of the tranny is fine so I'm going to swap the gears into the new case myself if it's not too hard.

Do you have any tranny experience??? your talking about an involved process.
Ricey has a tranny removal DIY post on here somewhere, do a search for creator "Ricey McRicerton". It should help a little, at least with dropping the tranny. As for the gear swaps, can you afford a new tranny?

If you have any specific questions feel free to me.
As long as you're swapping stuff from one identical tranny to the other it's really not too bad.

Thanks for the links Ricey!
Thankfully the tranny isn't in the car so that'll make it easier.
I've got no exp. with trannys. Can I screw it up and mess up my tranny?

Honestly, yes. Make sure before you put it back on the car it will shift into every gear and you're not locked out of any of them.
If you don't have a Helms manual I suggest you get one first.
Also, take pictures of stuff and do your best to remember how it looks before you tear it down. It's honestly not that tough, but just make sure you keep evetything organized when you do it.

Thanks for all the info.
I may or may not do it myself. I'm going to call a few tranny shops tomorrow and see what prices they give me.

transmissions are very simple.
A Helms will help guide you through it....it's too hard to explain everything with text. If you can turn a wrench and use a feeler gauge, you're good to go
