I have a 1998 ex, d16y8, 5 speed, and im gettin that 3rd gear grind alot, and also a lil bit of a second gear grind...now my theory is my tranny is going but ive only had the car for 35k miles, and it only has 76k miles on the original motor...now i have heard that it could also be something to do with the engine mounts that make it grind but i dont think it is...is there any way i could troubleshoot this problem or do i have to get it checked out...also how much would it cost to get my tranny rebuilt...or how much would it be for just a new tranny(id have my buddy instal it, so install would be next to nothing)...i really need some help here...

 

possibly you need new synchros. replace your tranny fluid with GM Synchromesh FM. does the trick if thats the case.

 

Has it really gotten that bad already. We still need to try that GM stuff as mentioned above.

sounds like ur synchros are gone. I would just get a new tranny if its a d-series not worth the money to rebuild

 

waddup i wonder if neone can help me out with my tranny i have a civic dx coupe when i was driving it i had leak from tha tranny and it was makin a loud noise in tha tranny.....i thought it was tha throwout bearin which it wasnt and i still dunno wats wrong with it it still makin noise wat should i do get a new tranny?
