Default Axel Moves Up/Down @ Intermediate Shaft? Half Shaft Bad?

I have a wobble my car aquired after my swap, got aligned and balanced but it never fixed the problem. It rode fine before so Im thinking its in the drivetrain. I got under the car and shook my driver side axel where it connects to the half shaft and it moved up and down about 3mm and in/out bout 1mm. Should that play be there or should it be rock hard? Do half shafts go bad? The wobble comes and goes and starts around 50-60.

dude i have the same problem i think after my gsr 95 with 90xxx miles into my 94 civic si. i know its gotta be the drive train it only has that vibration wobble in 5th gear when around 50-60 like you said. i went around asking people but noone helped. im glad well not glad, that someone else knows what im talking about i gotta check my axleshaft on the passenger side to see if it moves like urs i dunno if that is good but when i did the swap i only replaced the passenger side axle. from what i hear its no good to have any movement at all on that axle. post me if you find any info that would help. btw how many miles you got on ur motor? and what kine in what chassis?

I have the same problem on my DA. I have about 150,000 miles oon it with the stock axles... Did your axles wiggle at the tranny or at the outer hub...I know mine wiggle because the CV joints are bad...

hmmm well this problem looks common for higher mileage motors, i think the best thing would be to get the axle to be replaced. it weird though i feel the vibration on the driver side of the car feels like wobbling and then i also feel it in the gas pedal u guys get that too?

i dunno whats up with ur guys cars but i found an abs weight on my driver side axle, i removed it and the problem seems to have gone away. btw i dont have abs so i figured that the weight was causing the vibration, just a suggestion for you all to check to see if you guys got the abs weights on the axle that may not be necessary if you aint got abs.

hmmmm i wouldnt know whats going on with the shaky axles, ive check my driver side one and it does move a bit. i guess you could say 1mm, infact it does that on both sides. but i dunno if this has anything to do with the prob. but i did note that the driver side axle, where it connects to the transaxle, the transaxle leaks oil. i dunno if that makes any sense but i did note leaking from the bearing that holds the transaxle before the driver side axle connects. i dunno i got another suggestion-maybe check the motor mounts? ive read in the swap instructions by the moderator that he suggests replacing the driver side timing mount to an aftermarket one. i dunno if he said it but i read it in the thread he posted. maybe that could be the problem? oh yah and if you didnt get alignment i suggest getting it done, maybe that could be it, maybe it could be a combination of problems. i dunno however getting alignment done always helps so you dont cause excessive wear on ur tires.
