Default Time for a little better sound for the integra. Need some advice

I would like to get some new speakers, and a headunit for my integra.
I dont want anything crazy, and I dont want to shake the neighbors house either. I would just like something that will sound cleaner, and have a little more bass. No I DONT want a sub, I dont need it.

I searched, and found that I can fit 6.5s in the fronts, with a little mods. How much do I need to mod and what do I have to ? I read that Infinitys are a little bigger, and a tight squeeze?

For speakers in the front, I was thinkin about the Infinity Reference Component System. 6000CS.

Im not sure what to get for the back tho.

As for the headunit. I want something that can play MP3 CDs/CDRs.
I dont need anything fancy, just something that will do the job for a good price.

Will I need an amp? I would prefer not to if I dont need it.

Any help would be great. Thanks!

I would strongly recommend looking into Image Dynamics components.. costly but i am firmly convinced ID is some of the highest quality audio equip. buyable.

Also, look into kick panel speakers. Half of good sound is how the sound stage is set in the car, and typically the low-set speakers in door panels arent very good position wise. Components help that due to the addition of the tweeters

My GSR comes with components already, I should have mentioned that. So I would just have to replace the stock stuff, Im not looking to add more things like kick panels. As for Image Dynamics, whats the price range? The infinity 6000cs are about $120

i have the same car as you do and i got the MB Quart DSC216
the 6.5 fits nicely with a mdf spacer(half inch) and the tweeter(0.5 on our cars) the hole had to be inlarged just a little bit

check this MB Quart out DSE-216 this is the newer version of mine

look into Alpine CDA-9831, 9833, 9835 good mp3/cd headunit
need more info click here
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com...D=611

the alpine headunits has a mosfet60 amp built in that requires direct fused connection to your battery

I have an Integra also, but I have a sedan (99 GS) so my rears are a bit different than yours. Anyways, on to your question........... I recently purchased some Infinity Reference 6000cs components for the front. Overall, I can't complain. These are pretty nice sounding speakers, and for $120 bucks (which is a good price by the way, I got mine new (and shipped) for $115, but most places were closer to $150 shipped), you cannot go wrong. I had to make a spacer with 3/4" MDF so there would be adequate clearance with the front window, but it was no big deal. I have a Rockford Fosgate 400a4 pushing my fronts and backs, so they get a fair amount of juice and I think they sound good - but as everyone will tell you, you should listen to them yourself as everyones ears are different.

From my experience, and everything that I have read, nearly all components (the above noted Infinity's included) really need some extra juice (amp) to really sing. They will probably sound a bit better than the stocks with just a new headunit, but to get them to their full potential, I would suggest getting an amp, at least a small one - it will be worth it to your ears!

You can go a million different directions on headunits.........it just depends on what you are looking for (MP3, graphics, pre-amp outs, remote, etc.) and how much you want to spend. If you give us a budget, we can point you in the right direction, but a good deck is pretty easy to find IMO.

I don't know if you are interested or not, but I used to have some Kenwood 7x10's in the back of my car. Again, I have a sedan which comes with 6x9's on the rear deck (the opening is compatible with the 7x10's), and yours does not, but if you want to cut out some holes and put these on the back hatch lid, I think they would serve you well. They are a bit bigger than the standard 6x9's, and they sound very nice and kick out some of the best lows that I have heard (subs excluded). I guess what I am getting at is if you are not looking at getting a sub, and don't mind mounting these on your hatch lid, I think they would sound great and you would be happy. Again, these would need a little extra juice to sound really good, but sound ok off an aftermarket headunit. At one point, I had these mounted on a hatch lid and was very impressed. I have had these speakers for some time and they have been in and out of a few cars, but still function property. If you are at all interested, let me know and I can send you some pictures and answer any questions you have.........just shoot me an offer. I was cleaning out the closet this weekend and am just about to write up a classified ad for these (and an old Pioneer DEH-P 7000R deck that is a little tempermental at times) so I just want to get them out of the closet. Hope this helps. Good luck, and beware, car audio is addictive! haha

I dont really have a budget, However I do not want to spend alot. I dont have a budget, because Im not sure whate all this will cost.

I dont need a fancy deck. I need it to play mp3 CDRs, and display the track name would be nice. I dont need a remote, i dont care for fancy graphics, as I dont stare at the deck while drivin. So if someone could recommend a head unit, that would be great.

What kind of amp would i be lookin at? I would like something small. I did read along time ago, that digital amps are more effecient and run alot cooler, this true?

Are there certain sites you guys would recommend to learn about all this? Im new to car audio. Thanks.
