Why are coilovers so cheap on ebay?
I have a 2000 si and have been looking into about a 2" drop. AT the moment i'm weighing it out between coilovers or just lowering springs based on the cash i want to spend.
From what i understand and what ive been told, coilovers can run into teh high hundreds and with just springs and no suspension change i can keep it in the low hundreds.
So, when i see $40 US coilovers on ebay, am i missing somthing? Is there a lot of suspension work that goes into sorting your ride with coilovers that makes it so expensive? OR, are these just really shitty ones?
For example.

Any thoughts?

I personally have Arospeed coilovers. They are a bit above the generic **** on ebay, and I haven't had a problem. I wouldn't buy anything that didn't have a name on it, even if it is arospeed, as suspension.

Let me be the first to say
"You get what you pay for..."
I went the cheap route on my 98 EX... it sucks, save up the money and get the good stuff the first time around. Your Si is a really nice car to begin with, dont cheap out on it, save the $$$ and get some good coilovers (i.e. Ground Contols, Tein, Tanabe, etc...)
Justin my $.02

That link posted by Bauley is good as a comparason.
Best recomendations for your car are:
Koni Yellows or KYG AGX shocks
Ground Control Coil Overs (come with Eibach springs)
I payed under 800 shipped for my GC/Koni set up. Shop around.
or If you just want a good set of springs, Eibach make the best hands down.

IDK. Koni's are like -400, and GC's are 300...so like $700 or around there?

GC's were about 350 last I checked, Konis were a hair over 400. I think it was 800 shipped, when I got mine.

I have DropZone Coilovers with DropZone shocks on my Del Sol. I like how they ride and handle. I believe the rates are 450 front and 350 rear if you are wondering. The combo is not bouncy at all.
and if i were to go with just srpings instead of coilovers?
I know that would be not so good fo my stock suspension but if i didn't want to spend the $$ on coilovers, is it the same companies mentioned that you all would recommend?

to get it in the open....I actually started out with Arospeed sleeves.
Didn't wanna pay for a new GC setup, so I simply bought/inherited new ERS coilover springs.
Basically the same thing Tom did in that thread. Springs would have cost about 150 for all 4, but they were all freebies
, plus 50 for the sleeves. Thats 200 for the GC setup- only different perch styles. NEver had a problem with them either after 3 years on the car

Well I personally run Neuspeed/Koni shocks ($509 look for the sp3 in the part number) and Neuspeed Sport Springs ($130) on my EJ8 and the ride is smooth and gives you the 2 extra grooves vs. the Koni sport shocks.
If you get those springs, get the SP3 Koni's. They are specifically made for Neuspeed springs.
BTW...yeah good deal I say for 75 but be sure they are Neuspeed. Yellow = Neuspeed Race, green = Neuspeed Sport.
They will be stamped Neuspeed on them with the part numbers much like the Eibach on that pic.
