Default poorman's r

i was thinking about going all motor with mainly oem parts. i got a b18c1 currently and i want to put on a type r head with the type r im and tb along with jdm itr pistons. i mainly want oem quality and realiability. would this be a better setup or should i just do ctr cams, cam gears, skunk2 manifold, bored tb, port/polish gsr head, with jdm itr pistons? just curious what kind of power the poorman r would yield.

Search around and you'll find compression yielded with GSR head and Type R Civic slugs will be to high for a street car.

What you want out of your car is up to you. If you keep the b18c1 head and build it up, i think you will gain more power. If i were you i would look into some skunk2 stage 2 cams, some jun cam gears, skunk2 intake mani(if you p&p), Maybe some je 12.1:1 comp pistons, a 62mm TB and a clutch and flywheel to start off. Then get it tuned and see how you like it. Then from there you can start working on the head more and work on the bottom end. Good luck.

i thought that 12.1:1 would be took high a compression for 91 octane. i was considering the jdm type r pistons though.

with good tuning 12.1:1 is not too high for 91 octane but that is as high as I would go

Yeah i did my research and 12.1:1 is prolly the highest you wanna go with 91 octane. Some people go 12.5 on 91 octane and they say it runs fine. Its all up to you.

keep in mind he said something reliable, i dont think 12:1 compression on an everday driver is 2 reliable, i would do the jdm itr pistons build, with some skunk stage 1 cams.

Why wouldnt it be reliable. My friends b16 with 12.5 comp has lasted him almost a year so far. I dont see anything wrong with going to 12.1 daily as long as you get your motor tuned every now and then. 12.1 is perfectly fine.
