Differences in the ITR Tranny? Need info ASAP.
I'm about to purchase a JDM Type-R Transmission, just wondering how to check the years from a 4.40fd to a 4.75fd. Need info ASAP. Thanks in advance.

gotta love this board with all the misinformation
you're really not going to be able to tell from the casing, unless theres some sort of marking the person who pulled it out made...to denote pre 96.5
you could always tear open the transmission and count the teeth on the final drive

if the stampings are still on the casing, the 96-97's have lsd j4d stamped on them, 4.4 FD.
[b18c5_eh2's pic] will remove if you want me to

the 98+ have this stamping: lsd n3e, 4.7 FD.

only the 98+ JDM ITR trannies came equipped with the 4.7 Final drive
*edit* its possible that the stampings could have washed away, so in that case:How to distinguish B-series trannies

if your referring to b18c5_eh2's tranny, its that clean because its brand new from the dealer
