I know how to take off rear bumpers quite easily, I took off all the tabs and screws but as I am about to take it off their seems to be something beneth both taillights that is holding it in place, anybody what is holding it in place and how do I get to it?

 

Did you get the bolts off the bottom?

 

are the 96-98 and 99-00 rear bumper covers the same for the hatch?

yes i believe they are the same.

Yeah I did, something under the taillights are holding the bumper I don't know what it is, or how to get to it

 

i believe there is a nut/bolt combo under where the tailights go in at. It basically clamps down the rear bumper to the car, and when you put it back on it slides between it and when you put the nut back in it basically squeezes it and holds it together. It doesnt actually go through the bumper.
