help on b16 swap no power???!?!?! please help
okay i put a b16a in my 91 civic si hatch used my 1.6 wireing harnes just added the vtec and what not and vtec does work and all starts up fine but just goes through the rpms slowly and builds no power ive checked the timeing more than once looked at cam timeing swaped computers dizzy and what not changed dumb crap like plug wires oil haha j/k played with afc done what i could think of and still nothing so iam looking for help has anyone else ran into this problem or what any tips would be grateful thanks
first a couple q's,
what gen of b16 is it? ill assume its an b16a, not a 2 or 3
How many wires did you run/change?
revs slowly:
Possible: its possible that the distributor is fubar, NOT just the cap and rotor, i mean the bearing....
Diagnose: if you want to check it, pull off the cap and rotor and check for any play in the distributor shaft.
Possible: your alternator could be close to toasted, regardless of how good your battery is, once the cars running the battery isn't used at all,
Diagnose: run a volt meter off of something other than the battery when the car is running
Ill assume you did your timing correctly and changed your plugs when you did the timing belt and water-pump
you say its slow to rev, is it only under load, or even when free revving?
does the motor make any weird noises when its revving? (pops, bangs?)
in all honestly it definately sounds like something electrical, check for an ecu code, and if that doesn't work start going through things like your coil, double check your wiring, and if all else fails, talk to a local speedshop

heh.. well.. if you're going to use that ECU, you're going need the knock sensor hooked up and the wire shielded properly. Otherwise, your ignition timing is getting massively retarded and all the things you say are happening will happen

really well ill have to look into that then bc my friend didnt have his hooked up and it didnt kill it like that at all maybe bc of the ecu or what not but anyway thanks for the info
