Saw an accident today
I suck at telling stories, even worse typing them so sorry. So today me and a few friends were hanging out just sitting on the grass eating some food around dinner time. About 100 feet away was a 3 way intersection, like a T, i was near the side of the road of the vertical part of the T. The vertical line of the T interserction has a stop sign and it's usually tough to make a left or a right cause it's tough to see, and cars are usually lining the side of the road making it even harder to see.
We were all there eating and my back was turned to the intersection. The motorcycle was driving down the road, the horizontal line of the T. I hear the motorcycle and naturally turn around to look at it. As soon as I turn around i hear screeching tires and see the guy on the motorcycle start to lay down his bike, I was like wtf, then a second later i hear and see it slide into a grandam, it hit the front wheel of the grandam T boning it. I didn't even see the car until I heard the crash. I was thinking holy **** what happened to the guy on the motorcycle, i didn't see where he went i figured he flipped over the car. I just sat there with my mouth open, i was in shock, not knowing if this really happened. My friend sprinted towards the accident but then he saw the guy on the motorcycle walk over the to car, so he came back he looked fine except for scrapes on his arms/elbows! Thank god he was such a lucky bastard. When he layed his bike down he rolled or slid (didn't see) past the car and was able to avoid hitting it while his bike Tboned the cars front tired.
As it turns out it was the guy in the cars fault, he stopped at the stop sign apparently and he rolled forward to go and thats when the bike hit him, he was in the middle of the road. I didn't see but my friend said he got out and started taking pictures of the accident immediatly. This was on campus at school so the cops came 2 minutes after the accident. My 2 friends saw the entire thing, and there were a bunch of kids playing frisbee on the lawn too so a few of them saw. I said we should go over there just in case the kid on the bike needed witnesses, cause it was the right thing to do and I didn't wanna see the kid get screwed. So a few frisbee people went and gave their story to the cops and so did my 2 friends, had about 5 people talk to the cops saying it was the car's fault.
The guy in the car was around 55-60yrs old and he had 2 women with him about the same age. I assume he tried to make it out as the kid's fault, cause when the cop came over and talked to us he asked if the guy on the motorcycle was speeding(he wasn't), and he was like "yea it's tough to see when you're turning cause of the cars on the side of the road". We all knew the cops would be sorta out to blame the kid (he was a college kid prolly about 20-21 yrs old) so we talked to the cops (well i didn't cause i didn't see it really) and told them what happened.
It was obvious based on the crash and the witnesses that it was the car's fault, the kid on the motorcycle got soooooo lucky, his reaction was really good too it saved him from serious injury. He was wearing a helmet, t shirt, and jeans, had scrapes on his arms thats all i could see, he was walking and talking fine when he was talking to the cops he was like "it's starting to hurt now that the shock is over". He left in an ambulance anyway just in case i assume.
I was shook up a shaking a little for 20 min, not something you wanna see really, thank god it wasn't worse. I don't know much about bikes but it was a suzuki, not a sport bike, it was a suzuki it looked like the sv1000s. The front end was pretty trashed, fork was completely bent up and everything wash smashed and in pieces, it was leaking some fluids too, looked like it mighta been both oil and gas cause there were 2 puddles. Prolly going to be getting a new bike.

Cliffs: college kid on bike tbones car, is lucky, gets away with bruises and scratches, is the cars fault, about 5 witnesses in favor of bike

it's good that your friends and those other people helped the guy out..I know in most cases they would try to pin it on the motorcycle rider. I'm glad the guy was able to walk away from the accident.

u kno wat the government should do.. i mean we bike people pay our fees n everything else jus like a car. Why do we have to share the road wit other cars? We pay for the right to ride on the street, why can they make roads jus for bikes? n when we get hit by other cars, they blame it on the bikes... sayin we are makin the streets unsafe n cuttin people off.i kno it sounds unreal... but **** i pay my fees n i wanna ride my bike n dont gotta worry about being hit by stupid drivers! thas all i worry about, reckless drivers!
i see the point your trying to make but... for some reason the way you wrote it makes you look really dumb....
if you dont want a lot of cars just go for a nice 3am cruise!

The point am makin is that bikes should have the same respect as a car! How much would it cost to add a damn bike lane. Wat the heck even a bicycle got their own lane and they dont pay for ****. U might enjoy ridin at the 3am in the morning, but i dont! So back off lil boy! Ur only 17, shouldnt u be in the bed at that time anywayz?
some dorky rollerskate pads and he wouldn't have any problems. Don't squid if you don't want to be treated like one.
3am riding sucks b/c you're outriding your lights in second gear. Unless of course you've got a a track w/ sodium lamps at your disposal
