Default Anyone know how to change the carpet?

I have a 91 Accord LX Sedan......I want to change the carpet b/c the one in it is rather worn and old....and like to try and do it myself....Anyone have any suggestions or sites with instructions? It seems easy...take out everything....pull out carpet....trace it onto another and put it in...what you guys think?

Good luck with it. I had to take out all the seats and the center console. Here's a picture I took after I got everything out:

It was also connected on the rear part of the dash, so I just cut it off back there, I really did not feel like pulling the dash apart.

Although you may have some trouble making new carpet. The carpet on the accord is molded, so it isn't one flat piece, as you can see in this picture:

Also, there is some sound deadening/padding underneath it, but that stuff pulls off pretty easily so you can just transfer it over (or just leave it off for weight reduction ) That stuff looks like this:

This is all for a 94 accord. I dont know how much different it would be, but as far as I know the two generations are similar. Good luck, and take pictures of the results!

^ditto

You're gonna need a molded carpet. There are aftermarket carpets out there if you don't feel like paying full price.

well my question is this, there are shops out there where you can take your car and they will do it for ya? or am i wrong? a friend of mine told me the same people who re-upholster are the same people who do the carpet and stuff like that...regardless, im converting my interior to complete black, black cloth seats and black or charcoal carpet...oh, and that carpet you pulled off from underneath is highly flammable...!

Yep, go JCWhitney or something, the carpet isn't that expensive it only takes about an hour or two to put in. As long as you get molded of course. Good luck, and like the one guy said, just slice the carpet in half where it meets behind the dash.
