Default Something I've noticed about Spring rates.

I was reading a bunch of listings for spring rates and it seems like alot of companies have much stiffer rears than they do fronts.

I also noticed that some, although not many companies, have stiffer fronts than they do rears.

So I ask, why do most companies go with stiffer rears and softer fronts on our cars?

Side note:
Currently I have 450F/350R on my car and was wondering if thats how I should keep it? I dont autoX at all or circuit race and am more of a drag guy. Knowing this, I should then have my 450's on my rear and 350's on the front correct?

stiff rears promotes oversteer which is good on the track! turns car more in turns

stiff fronts then rear promotes stock ride (understeer) for street use, b/c the average driver can drive thru understeer more so than oversteer. companies do this so they wont get sued

stiffer front springs generally help with the weight balance of the vehicle.

stiffer rear springs will allow the vehilce to rotate with a little more ease.

i personally run stiff front and softer rear, and i plan on correcting the rotation issues with a rear swaybar.

softer rears make the car much more comfortable as well.

Most companies go with stiff front/soft rear out of the box. I don't know what you think you're looking at. That's the safest and most comfortable way to do things.

Most "usdm" racers prefer a rear bias with spring rates. And big rear bars. Oversteer is fun.

Drag guys run high rear rates too. Keeps the weight in front.

I have 380/450s on my car.
