Default 1.5L dpfi to si mpfi conversion question

hello, this week i have been ehlping a friend with his dpfi to mpfi conversion. we have a donor hf with a si motor in it that we pulled the intake off of, choped some connectors off of, got the brace, the ecu, and the si dizzy. the whole shebang. im told that the hf/si drop in was unsucessful (our donor car), once it was complete it never had spark, and there was nobody around that knew anything about electricals to help out. whoops.

everything is installed mechanicly (the easy part) and ive completed the wiring.
sofar we have properly working injectors that spit out gas, an ecu that doesnt spit out codes, and NO SPARK!

this is a real bummer, weve worked very hard on this and we are so close to finishing, can someone please help us by listing possible reasons why there would be no spark in a situation like this?

we sofar are fairly convinced that the distributor is the part at fault, but i cant prove it as its not very responsive to a multimeter. neither the old working one that we took off nor the si version (with the cylinder position sensor) seem to respond at all to my probings, resistance checks, whatnot...

anyways, i would appreciate some advice ( and im sure my friend would like it if i figured it out) about troubleshooting distributors with cps, or other piotential reasons for lack of spark.
i am a toyota man (ae86) and ive never owned a honda so please excuse any ignorance i might have.

thanks for hearing me out.

those distributors are famous for having Ignitor problems, I'd start there.

the Ignitor from your old working dizzy will work in the Si dizzy and so will the coil. make sure all of the conections are tight also.

thats good advice green91, i thought maybe the wires were just faded but it seems thats the way the wiring diagram has it too. both are really white.

so i took your advice and resoldered the 2 white wires, and we tried to fire it up afterwords and bleh. no dice.
so maybe it was a step in the closer direction.

thumpu77: about the coil and ignitor, thats a darn good idea! i will give that a whirl when the sun comes back up, and i will repost in this thread about the results. thanks guys!
