STUPID QUESTION: REMOVING GAS FILTER 00 CIVIC LX
I know this is a really dumb question. But I just bought my 2000 Honda Civic LX and I'm trying to do a thorough maintanance, but can't seem to get the damn fuel filter out. I already started to bend the fuel rail going into the filter, I dont want to do any more damage, so if anyone knows a quick technique (or easy way) please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated.
The bottom bolt is my problem, and I tried to get to wrenches to try and twist it off, but no success!
Please, anyone that can help! It would be appreciated!
Thank You in advance!

rachet? cant get a rachet in there. its like, you have to use 2 wrenches, one to hold and one to twist. but its not workin out to good, cuz like i said, the rail is bending.
Simple, I took out the 3 bolts holding the holster for the filter, THEN tried loosening the bottom bolt. I cant figure out how the hell to loosen that bottom bolt though!
I cant get it to screw off for nothing.

Ok, ive had it with the gas filter! Seriously on there way to tight!
I did this:
Held wrench on filter it self, and one right below that to the nut on the fuel line. I turned the one on the filter to the right, while thrusting the fuel line to the left.
Tell me im not losing my mind here? or the fuel filter is just really f'in tight!
Any ideas, cuz im already starting to strip the damn fuel line nut!? Im about ready to saw this thing out!

its on REALLY tight.... i had my dad take it off.... hes ALOT stronger than me of course- hes got them mechanic muscles. anyway, make sure you tighten it back up as it was before. and that its not leaking fuel.
good luck

You're probably one of those 120 lb. panzy guys aren't you?
If you're having problems with turning those bolts, get yourself some cheater bars. They're just pieces of pipe to slide over your wrenches to give them a longer handle. Nothing fancy. 1" pipe should do. Go to a plumbing store and see if they have some scrap laying around. Give them a buck or two and you're set.

dude goto advance or any parts store buy a flare nut wrench set, I bought a 3 pack and it has different sizes on each end of the wrench so I have 6 sizes, bolt the bracket back to the firewall to hold the filter and then you'll be able to get it. Even with the flare wrench it will take some time being as you can only turn the screw little by little. Those wrenches make life so much easier. I have a 97 hx but all the fuel filters are the same 96-00 whether it being a dx,lx,cx,hx,ex. I've changed mine 3 times and it's a piece of cake. Just remember to use the new crush washers that came with the new filter. Also I would suggest buying a haynes, helms, or any repair manual. They make life soo much easier when your working on your car by yourself, also if you have any more questions pm me.
