Default Bouncy tach....that's wack...

OK, I noticed this ever since I got it out of storage about a month ago...I don't drive the car that often yet because the weather is still crappy....anyways...

Onto the story...Whenever I drive nice and easy, the tach reacts fine...whenever I floor it in first gear and go through 1,2,3 and taking it to around 8000 RPM, my tach gets erratic...it only happens when I start out in first gear...otherwise it won't happen...and it only happens when I floor it...

It'll go to 7500 or 8000 and bounce around a bit...oil level is fine, VTEC works flawlessly and the engine is running in tip top shape...as it should be with only 24k on it...

Just wondering if ya'll had any ideas as to what could be happening.

Thanks guys.

Car only has 24k on it...never been in the salt...stored in climate control during the winters...hardly ever sees rain...perhaps it is loose?

My EGT guage does the same thing. Some days its cool, other days, it goes crazy...I think its because of the ground,..... or maybe in your case, your battery ampage is low...Check your voltage or your alternator to make sure its pumping out enough juice.

O2 sensor shorting on chasis. I didn't believe it either until I fixed it and all my problems went away.

People say this problem is ignitor related. I ended up replacing my whole distributor since it was under warranty. But it fixed the problem. You have low mileage, bring it in to the dealer.

Exactly what I was going to suggest, only because it's happened to me with 2 of my motors in the past.

Have you checked the helms to diagnose yet as well? It usually has a nice layout.

Considering the low miles, dealer might be an option. I'm not familiar w/that because all my cars were used.

so you can potentially have a bunch of shady guys beating on your vehicle or even overrevving it?

Not all dealerships are like that, thankfully. Although, I do know of some that I really wouldn't want to take my car to.
