Default DIY grill 5th gen

Wondering whats the best way of going about DIY painting the chrome strip that wraps around my 96 grill? I can buy factory matched colors, clear coat, and primer at my local Auto Zone or Pep Boys right?

And I know this shoud be posted in the apperance forum but for some reason I am still a trial member Why?

i actually stripped the chrome off the plastic. the way i did it was i sanded it with a dremel, then that weakened the coating and i peel and chipped it off with a razor and my fingernail. it took a while. then i sanded everything really good, cut out the bar and honda emblem in mine, primed, sanded again, primed, then painted it with the duplicolor bordeaux red paint, then clear coated.

well, I've seen some real cheap 94-95 Stock Grills on ebay, and those years didn't have the chrome around them. I'm quite certain that they will fit in a 96-97. Some of them are going for $10-$15, which isn't bad. And then you can just keep your original grill.
