Ok i have a 90 CRX HF shell and i need to know what i need to do a swap with a 98 Civic V-tec motor. I've asked a couple friends and shops that i know and they said they are not sure but i might need to get mounts for the engine and i already know i need a V-tec ecu. My concern is what ecu obd1 or what and where is a good place to get the mounts if i need to get mounts. And if there are any other things i need other than this please let me know. It would help me out greatly. Thanks alot.

 

You only need to change the driver's side mount bracket and mount on the D16Y8 to the ones from the HF or any 88-91 Civic/CRX. This will allow the motor to bolt directly in. You will need to get a 88-91 Civic/CRX cable tranny because the Y8 tranny is hydro. You "could" make it work but it would have to be all custom.
For electronics, the easiest is to stay OBD0 and use a PM6/PM7 ECU, injectors with resistor box and a Civic/CRX Si or HF distributor. You would then need a VAFC, Field's, MSD RPM switch or similar controller for the VTEC control/activation. The other option would be an OBD1 P28 ECU and converting to OBD1. This is the best option but it will require some extra wiring although it's not that difficult.
