JDM? USDM? How can you tell the difference??

Default JDM? USDM? How can you tell the difference??

whats up guys...just have a quik question... I'm looking into buying a car that supposedly has a JDM type-r motor swap... it has the red valve cover but aftermarket headers. The stamp is B18c...how do i know this isnt a usdm type-r motor or a usdm/jdm gsr with a red valve cover?? any help would be great...thx

USDM engines are B18C1, B18C5, etc... JDM engines are just stamped "B18C"

JDM is t3h m4d t1t3 y0!

well u can look at the head and if it says p73 then its a itr head, if its a p72 then u know its a gsr head. but for the block if it says b18c it can be a JDM gsr or itr. This is a little more info for you. good luck.

a type-r head does not say p73 it says pr3-3 or pr3-4

this is correct. Look at the intake manifold. if it looks 'upside down' in contrast to the other b series intake manifolds, its a GS-R. Unless of course the owner swapped it with a skunk2 unit.

*sigh* Just look at the head casting number....

i have a jdm b18c-r and the marks of verification are....it says PR3 on the head, block is marked B18c, green paint marking on the distributor, red valve cover with VTEC bigger than honda lettering, blingin oil cap, an a LSD tranny i probably missed a few things but this is what i looked for when forst identifying my new motor
