Default Spoon Blue mirrors

I first heard about them from one of the other posts about the JDM blue mirrors.

Can anyone tell me if the view of the mirrors would be reversed(objects in mirror are closer than they appear) because of the RHD->LHD?? I like the idea of them being shaped different to let you see a wider reflection, although I am not to fond of the blue color.

I know that the Spoon/Vision black mirrors reflection is fine but I would really like to know about the blue ones.

here is what i know.. they sell inserts i think in those markets that you just put over the spoon mirror.. i'm not 100% but thats why my friend got for his audi..

i really like my spoon mirros, but they are so cheaply designed its unbelieveable! i think i could have designed them better.. that cheap piece of **** rubber string that goes around the actual glass in the mirror housing already cracked! i had mirrors for only one FUGGIN WEEK! WTF! i heard these ***** crack on every car you put them on.. especially if the car is parked in the sun.. well mine always sits in the shade.. so now i have to go and invent something to replace that gay string or hopefully get them replaced? you pay over 300 bucks that just breaks by its self! very unappy bout this!

The Spoon blue wide mirrors are convex for both sides so actaully the view is much better then stock. You won't have LHD and RHD problems.

Hey Mike, how much are you selling the blue mirrors for?
If the price is right I'll probably pick it up.

Thanks,

What do they look like? Are they the same style as the TC, just a different lens? The Spoons I have didn't even come with the rubber string around the glass so I have to be careful when washing the car so I don't cut myself.

Every set of Spoon mirrors we have sold have also had the rubber tear after a period of time. I think it is a factor of the glass corners not being rounded and the sharp edge just works its way through the gasket. That's why we now only sell the carbon fiber look M3 style mirrors with the turn signal built in. IM Jack Harris (B18CXr) for some shots of them on his car. He opted for the chrome trim rings, too!

hey Mike,
I thought they were the complete mirrors assemblies(including the painted part), NO??
If they are just a piece of glass over the stock, How does it attach to the stock?? If it comes off too easily, it will almost be advertising "free take me" especially with the blue tint.

WTF! now if i take the mirror off the mirror finish on the edges sucks too.. its very uneven, even looks chiped as some spots, anyone know any sort of rubber i can use to re do the mirror yet make it look clean OEM looking? if anyone has any bright ideas please fill me in.. its kinda hate looking at that cracked rubber piece every time i look into the mirror

I've opened up my little book and scratched the Spoon mirrors of the list of things to get. Have any distributors notified Spoon directly about this problem?

I installed the Zoom mirrors (also from japan and probably make them for Spoon actually). I like them a great deal. I had no problems at all with anything and I like the blue tint so you're not blinded by traffic at night. My inside rear view automatically dims blue but the outside don't so they made a nice addition. I can also see my blind spot much better now since the glass is convex. I got mine for $60/pair. The Spoon's are obviously a bit more.

The side mirrors on my bimmer are blue, first I though that they just looked cool, but I was amazed how much less glare I get from the cars behind me at night.
I remember the side mirrors on the Integra used to just blind me, big difference w/the blue mirrors.

my mirrors where on my car for less then one week.. int that time, i cleaned the car like once.. parked it in the shade.. even if i had the damn car parked on top of a sand dune in the middle of sharan desert for a week straight they shouldnt crack in such a short period of time. Fugging condoms are more durable then the rubber lining around the spoon mirror! maybe they are just defected or something anyone got any ideas on how to fix this? that rubber lining is hanging from my mirror at this point, looks so nasty!

I put mine on last April and in July the plastic lip broke on the passenger side around the lower inside corner, I drove around with them with the piece dangling until last wheel when took them off for the winter. I don't think icescrapers and Spoon mirrors would get along too well.

Anyway, I removed the plastic strip because that flap was annoying the hell out of me. And I took it off the driver side too.

The glass edges seem very sloppily cut, I thought about taking them apart and just replacing the glass, since the rubber molding around the mirror actually ended up leaving marks on the glass due to vibration over time. I can easily see where the molding once were.

What is the deal with the convex glass. Do they replace the ones that come with the spoon mirrors?
