Default 5th Gen DIY Turbo set up... (SOCH VTEC)

Ok guys first I will start by saying i did do some searching and didn't really find the answer to what i was looking for.

1) Is there any cheaper alternative to spending $200 on a custom turbo manifold made for the 5th Gen?

2) I know i need the following things. Help me out if i'm missing stuff.
Turbo
Blow off
Manifold
Injectors ( can i use the DSM injectors with the 5th gen?)
Clamps
Oil lines
Piping
Intercooler (I read in one of my old posts that 5 PSI is the limit before using)

Would I be able to get away with this project for under $1000 and would it even be worth my time if I only plan on boosting 8 PSI?

Last thing, what is the max for the 5th gen vtec motors in terms of PSI?

~*~Gets geared up in flame suit just in case~*~

no need to worry about flaming....this is a legit and good question (even though it has been covered before, but not neccesarily for 5th gens....)

waste gate to prevent boost spike.....
down pipe......
FPR + Tunable Contoller......
all the additional **** for the ghetto (vafc) hack OR standalone ECU (AEM EMS...HONDATA......etc).......
boost controller.........
new exhaust piping (if ur not 2.5"+)

$1000?? from a junkyard, maybe, but that doenst include costs for a V-Afc or similar controller, etc........usually theres a few drag manifolds for sale in the classifieds for $300ish..(if u can find a custom turbo mani for $200, uve got one hell of a deal)..+u gotta get that SOB tuned right so you dont detonate the poor thing.....also, u might wanna factor in the extra cost of always using premium gas.....

accordfreak was boosting @ 14psi (270ish whp 280ish trq)....that was untill he was fishtailed by sum ******* stunna.......you could go w/ 8-10 for daily, and ull be able to kick the *** outa any NA h22 accord

This sounds like it will be an AWSOME scavanger hunt and an AWSOME project!

u wanna run premium gas so that u getting a more efficient combustion....this helps to prevent detonation==>spark plug firing at the "wrong" time when theres not a good AF mixture, which causes major hella bad problems.....but i might be wrong...........but u DO need to run premium...

look for old turbo/turbo diesel volvos and **** for inter cooler. turbo, etc

you need to run the premium gas for number of reasons.
1)preventing flame front (break pistons)
2)horsepower
3)resist pre-ign.(melt pistons)

get a conquest intercooler instead, volvo's got some sh-tty design.
even dsm, mk4 supra or rx7 smic is better than volvo's
you know what i mean when you see one yourself.

the list above me sucks

-turbo
-internal or external wastegate(wastegate controll the amount of boost)
-bov(to keep your throttle body from blowing up)
-intercooler(decrease the temp of the compressed air)
-downpipe
-testpipe/bigger cat(when you see a orange glowing manifold, you will get one)
-exhaust manifold with matching port to the turbo
-silicone connector(dont use cheap stuff, they blow/leak)
-FPR with guage(to control the fuel pressure)
-intake fuel pump(upgrade it so it would keep up with the turbo's demands)
-air filter and pipe to compressor(keep the blade from damage)
-Missing link(to keep ecm from detecting boost)
-fuel management(aem ems/hondata/fmu/vafc,etc)
-upgrade injectors or extra injectors
-boost gauge, a/f guage(better than nothing)
-o2 bungs
-silicone vaccum lines
-oil supply line(from oil source to turbo shaft)
-oil return line(back to the oil pan)
-tap for oilpan
-SS or T clamp for the silicone conductors

turbo timer are optional stuff, nice to have but not in the "have to list"
turbo timer allow cool down time so your turbo would coke up and kill it's shaft from lack of oil

A good custom turbo manifold will cost you a lot more than $200.

If you have, or can find, a 5th gen LX manifold, you can make your own turbo manny. Cut the flange off the stock exhaust manifold, buy a t3 ( or whatever flavor turbo) flange, have a GOOD experienced welder weld it on in the location of the original flange. Then find a good porting/machine shop, preferrably one that uses waterjet machines, and have them port and polish it.
Or you could just commission Lovefab or a similar company to make a custom one.
