Default HELP from those with knowledge of Z10 Radius arms

I just finished the install tonight. The only thing I need to do is go to Home Depot and get a shorter screw for the center of the cross member. I took my car out and test drove it. When I initially get on it hard there is a loud and distinctive knock. And when I apply the brakes semi emphatically there is the same knock. Is this attributed to the cross member flexing at the central point since I haven't attached the screw or is there something I am overlooking. If this knock is the noise I hear is associated with this kit I will remove them. Please help.

Mine did the same thing untill i got a new center bolt. If you look under the car you will see how much the bar moved. The center bolt is defently needed.

Can anyone confirm if this is the reason for the knocking I'm getting?

apparently Asspenny's response wasn't good enough? I helped w/ his install and I will reiterate what he said...once the center bolt was placed in, it eliminated the sound...get yourself a smaller bolt and you'll be fine!

Cool, just making sure. I just saw another of his posts claiming that his car was still making a sound and he wanted to have the people that were meeting in S FL this weekend to to see if we could find what it was.

yeah, we finally figured out what the problem was, too much preload was causing his issues...

is it me, or were you the only two that mentioned the center bolt was not the right size??? doesn't make sense to me, b/c there is no way in hell that huge bolt they give for that center bracket is going to fit...

glad we could help...maybe we'll see you this weekend!

BTW, where abouts do you live exactly, as I've been seeing a few R's by me of people that I don't know, and I know about 5-6 R drivers in the area...you can IM me if you don't want to say it on here...

I'm in the east Fort Lauderdale area. Yeah I've only seen our two posts about the bolt being too long. Also when I called Z10 they told me to thread it through the middle hole on the brace. The only hole I could line up on the brace to the frame was the very first hole, furthest from the bar. Oh well. I only know of Sherbaz and a friend of his with a PY ITR with a carbon fiber hood and a hybrid cold air intake. I've seen a Yellow one driving around in my area but don't know the kid and I also see another yellow one that belongs to someone that works at the Eckerds at 5 points.

Once my Z10 was inplace I just ran the Drill bit size they recommended through the on the center tab and enlarged it as I drilled through the core support. Then I installed the long bolt they supplied.

if you do not place the center bolt in you will continue to hear the knocking sound only cause that bold is a form of support on the radius arms.

Thanks to everyone. I thought this topic was long forgotten and didn't repost to let everyone know that it was fixed with the bolt. I had to wait to get a smaller bolt though because it would hit the radiator if I used the one supplied. Either way a bolt no longer than 1.5" is needed to secure it to the lower radiator support.

BTW what should you torque that bolt to?
