I picked this up from Best Motoring Type-R legends. This may not help any of use but still it was interesting to see the numbers.

I didnt see that on my TypeR legends either! Thats a lot of RRRRRRRssssss 29969 to be exact. There are approx 400 1996 JDM ITRs here in Irealnd at present with more arriving each month, before i bought my 96, i looked at approx 15 others at various importers car lots
If a car is sold on December 31st of the year, it is classified as that year, they do not do model years in Japan like they do stateside. My friend bought a year old car brand new from a dealer, when it was titled it was titled as the current year.
The first ITR was released in August of 1995, hence the 95 sales record that was shown. And do I remember that day, I was salivating over the car at the Primo dealership.

I remember being told this somewhere else as well, but I thought that the Integra's were sold at Verno dealerships.

Your right, my mistake, I don't know what I was thinking, Primo just popped into my head.
DOH! Primo only sells Civic Rs. Verno is the dealer for the NSX, S2000 and Integra.
And to think that I have been here for almost 11 years.

Everyone's entitled to a brainfart once in a while.

Actually there are 3. Primo, Clio and Verno! Verno is more the sports type cars, though they sell other models also. Each of the 3 types has the same number of cars and then each has their specific models. Clio is kind of the luxury division and then Primo is more the gerneral sales division.

Thats a question we all would like to know. I wonder if someone in Japan like DC5RK20A can get a hold of someone at Honda to get the info on the production numbers for the U.S. market? Like you said if they kept track with theirs why not ours?

96 spec ITRs refer to all Type Rs that have the 4 stud wheels, ie the first version. I have seen 98 plate cars with 4 stud wheels, it just depends when they were registered. I have also seen a 97 plate 5 stud JDM ITRs but its called a 98 Spec. the year on the registration basically means nothing, the spec of the car 96/98Spec depends on whether its the first edition(4stud) or revised edition(5stud).

so this would explain why my car (sir-g) is a 96spec but when it got imported and the paper work was done, it was recorded as a 95 honda. since it was sold on sept. 95
i would also assume the drop in sales from 96 to 97 was due to honda had to supply the rest of the world with R so the had less to sell in their own country.
