I asked the same question about a year ago when deciding what car to buy. (ITR or 2005 ITR?) I've done my research and found out that the Type-R for the new Integra (AKA RSX) was the 2005 RSX Type-S A-Spec. The A-Spec its all cosmetic. It has side skirts a new front and back bumper and a EVO looking wing. (looks sick) but no preformance change like the 97-01 ITR's. I believe we have seen our last true Type-R in 2001. But then again I hope that is wrong and Honda decides to built a monster out of the RSX. And also in my own opinion I thing Honda should of kept the Integra name instead of collaborating the SX at the end of each model. Very sad, because i'm a fanatic of Type-R and its aspects. The A-spec should be in Acura showrooms by now. haven't seen any driven yet.
i really didn't understand your post. The type R is NOT the RSX type S a-spec. And Acura has not concatenated an SX on the end of each model, or else we would have TLSX and RLSX and MDXSX...

The A-spec is not all cosmetic. True, there are no engine upgrades but the suspension is upgraded, so the handling out of the box is a lot better than a RSX-S.

Correct as well as larger wheels and sportier tires and the aforementioned cosmetic touches..

Better maybe but I wouldn't go as far as to say "alot" better or nearly "equal" to a Type-R. An LSD would be a nice appreciated improvement I'm sure instead of lookie here junk.
But, certainly Not a pansy, ***** or whatever as many may bitch and moan about.
Not a Type-R but Not a slug.
Unfortunately though for a $4,164.12 Add on price tag, it is both Not a deal Nor "worth it" IMHO. But, it won't interfere with the factory warrenty as Acura promotes.
The (Integra) RSX Type-R is Not coming, I don't know how many times it needs to be said.

Probably not equal to the RSX-R, and I haven't driven it, just going by what I read. I think it was on vtec.net. Originally it was called the FP package, which I believe is very similar to the current A-spec (brake and wheel differences?).

True, what a waste of $$ on the body kit. And I don't think it has the RSX-R rear anti-sway bar.

Agreed. That's too bad since Honda apparently did a really good job calibrating the shocks and springs set up to balance the car. I don't know if it's still the case, but when the FP was originally introduced they were not going to sell these parts alone for anyone who didn't order the FP package with the car. But for the money, I'm sure Mugen and others have some nice set ups as well.

i read in a small article in car and driver stating that both type-r's will be coming to the US. Maybe if someone has the issue or can look it up will back me on this.

Until Honda issues an official press release - it is all heresay and conjecture.

Dear Ms. Cooper,
Thank you for your recent correspondence to the Acura Client Services Office. We are always pleased to hear from happy Acura customers.
In your letter you stated that you are interested in knowing when the RSX Type R will be available in the United States. Currently the car is available only in Japan, and American Honda Motor Co., Inc. has no current plans to introduce it here in the U.S. at this time.
Thank you for the opportunity to address your correspondence.
Sincerely,

He's right. That's all based on their best guesses. Motor Trend reported about 1 year ago that the CTR would be on sale here in the Fall '03. I even remember they wrote they were so sure it was a "done deal."

I'm not sure if this a hoax or not, but apparently this company can have the R's shipped from Japan. Check it out: http://www.evolutionimports.com/

It said Civic Type R, not Integra/RSX. And who knows what their source was, but I don't remember seeing a press release from Honda since that article came out, and it is not a very new article.
RSX Type R is NOT COMING!!!!!!
We've been talking about this for YEARS.
