after oil change....how long does car need to idle?
changed my oil today and let it idle for about 2 minutes before driving off.....is that alright or should i let it idle until completly warm next time...just curious to know if it even matters..btw..2000 ITR...castrol syntec 10w-30...
it really doesn't matter. only thing that matters is the oil light going off to indicate oil pressure is good. I usually let idle for like 30 seconds, turn off and recheck level
then off I go
then off I go
I've been told you should let it idle a while, a couple of mins then while in neutral rev around 3k for an extended time (maybe 30 seconds). Then go up to around 4k for another 30. Then check for any leaks and check your levels. I personally only do this occasionally, but I guess it's good practice.
