Default Magnetic Drain Bolts-oil & trans

Wanted to order a set from Pepboys website but I can't seem to find them. I also searched archives and only came up with the parts # for the oil plug. Do they make one for the tranny?

I'd buy the sp00n ones but, 1. I'd rather put the $60 towards lap dances and 2. The kid on the phone @ inlinefour was a douche bag.

They are a lot less than $60 shipped. Napa in my area has the oil drain plug for around $6 but no tranny drain bolt.

don't take the risk and buy generic Magnetic drain plug for the Tranny.....the drive gear inside the tanny is so close to the drain hole. The Spoon one (the magnet part) is design just long enough to put thru in there w/o any risk for the magnet to be cut by the drive gear.

on the other hand....you can use pepboy's on the oil pan....i use it before and have no problem

Just for the record, there's already a big *** magnet inside the tranny. I run the spoons in my car and the when we had my tranny apart to replace the input shaft bearings the amount of material on the magnet inside the tranny case compared to the drain plug was like 10000:1. It was hard to believe how was on the magnet inside the case and how little was on the Spoon. Not saying it didn't provide some benefit, but I think it provided very little compared to the one already in the case.

Opie, why don't you ask one of your NY friends near a Pep Boys to buy you one and mail it to you. The item is so small that I assume it would only cost a couple of bucks to send to you. Heck, make the drive down to long island or Albany and you will find a pep boys there.

There's a Pep Boys right near my house, and they have a whole section of magnetic plugs. If you give me the exact size, I don't mind picking one up and mailing it to you.

Edit: Did a quick search, and it looks like the size is 14x1.5mm. Can anyone confirm?

buy 2 pepboys magnetic plugs.

Use one "as-is" for the oil pan

Cut the magnetic tip off from the plug (it shortens the plug length by ~1-1.5cm) and use it for the tranny. It fits fine. Spoon's tranny plug is same length as the pepboys minus the magnetic tip. Don't worry though, pepboys w/ out the tip still have magnet in the main body.

sorry, no pics.

Trust me, even with part numbers, these tools still can't find what you want or what's in stock.

Maybe I should remind everyone about the 3 different axles I went through (after giving the CORRECT part # every time) before I got the correct one. So guess how I got the correct one? That's right I had to bring in the old damaged axle and show them they were friggen morons. It works, now the Sentra can gain another 100k miles.

The Honda Dealers aren't much better. I picked up an axle for our Accord and it didn't fit either. They then said I ordered the wrong one till they saw the correct PN on the receipt and realized they just grabbed the wrong one off the shelf!
