Turboed R's,Do you regret it?
if u take your time on reading everything and finding out how things work you should not have one problem...its a delicate matter to turbo a c5 motor, just can't cut corners. I dont' regret it at all, its makes the car so much fun to drive and the possibilities with boost are almost endless.

Seriously though - my only regrets are that the itr isn't rwd and under 2k lbs from the factory..... (and that we didn't get the jdm hid front end!)

Performance-wise, no regets...however, I do miss the peace of mind of being able to drive it hard and not worirying about blowing the engine. My car is tuned so it should be okay, but I'm still paranoid.

this is a tuff one. i do regret it sometimes. . . . when i cant enjoy driving it and its sitting for some reason. but when i can drive it with no hassles i love every minute of it. IMHO i had more fun with it on the stock motor and simple set up. everything was simple and to the point and was reliable. since i started messing with everything else under the sun , i dont feel i have the reliability anymore to make it often streetable. i only drive it once and a blue moon at the moment. maybe it'll be better once i finally get it tuned this weekend.
I regretted allowing a shop I thought was reputable make a turbo kit for me and ending up blowing my motor. Now that I met all my good friends who helped me get it all together, I would never go back to N/A. I love having handling and torque all in the same car. My car is just as reliable as it was when I bought it stock. Its all in the parts you choose.
I'll be sure to give a first hand experience on this post once my car is finished. I started out with bolt-on's from the very best from SMS products. Now I'm going with high quality parts under boost as well. Tuning is the key IMO
Your reliability will go down plain and simple. Doing it right the first time will help. The absolute most important thing is a good standalone computer system and good conservative tuning. Next would be for the driver to have a good understanding of Boost + ITR motor, such as whats going on when you boost a motor that was not meant for boost. Driver/operator stupidity is the #1 cause of engine problems...be smart.
If you want to have fun go NA
If you want to go fast go BOOST

I have a boosted R and I love it when it isnt down.... I push my car very hard on a well tuned motor and car is running great.... my only bad experiences so far is I have gone through two mainshafts in the tranny... I say go for it but be prepared for downtime
i'll put it this way, if you want to have great turbo experience, then you have to accept the fact that you may need to spend 10-15K over that period of time (all would depend on when your stock motor will let go and how you take care of it).
Although to get things going you probably won't spend more than 6-8K on a good setup, you could easily jump into 7 digits by replacing parts. So... if you can live with that, then i say why not.
If properly tuned and put together you'll have stock like reliability and drivability. Its just putting it together right that you need to take time to figure out and just do it right. And for taking care of setup once its done, you can't make any errors for maintanance and driving of course.
Now, if you want to extend reliability, just turn down your hp. I'd recommend low 200's for stock motor, mid-high 200's for stock motor with forged pistons/rods with stock sleeves. While on hp issue, every car this days just has more hp out the box and easy to tweak.. so when you spend so much money towards your itr, you want your setup to be really fast, otherwise.. you're making a slow car not as slow.

No regrets, except I wish I had all the money I've spent over the years...oh well, you know the old saying 'speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?'
No regrets whatsoever. If I was to buy another R I would boost it again just with the best parts this time. I can never go back to NA again. Having driven mine for about a year and then drive my friends EK9 CTR is felt like I was driving a diesel, no torque whatsoever. However, I do miss the peace of mind when I was doing track days in the stock NA days not having to keep checking over the car. If the car is only for track use I would stick to stock NA as you can beat on it all day long and not having to worry about it. You can get it setup right and be reliable but obviously nothing beats stock NA reliability. If u do opt for boost be prepared to throw endless $$ at it.
Turbo = HUUGE <never go back on na> FUN!!!
