it was raining tonight, i was driving about 35 mphs and hit a pothole...
i couldn't see how deep it was but i guess it was deep enough to give me a freaking heart attack
looking at my rims the front one is bent significantly and the rear is slightly bent.. enough to annoy me until i replace it

that never helps the matter, part of the reason why i stick with 15's bigger tire to protect the rim, and im willing to bet that pot hole was Gnarly

I track day my Rota's any they are perfectly fine, daily drive some nasty british roads and they are fine, Rota build quality is fine. Foff you haters.

Grids in 16" look gorgeous. I got gun metal and chrome lips.

Why, are they made out of unobtainium? Or adamantium?

ANY wheel hitting a huge pothole @ 35mph WILL have some sort of damage.

considering a forged wheel is stronger than a cast wheel , im going to go ahead and asume that the forged wheel will take more abuse and come out on top . hence why we put forged internals in our cars .

No alloy will withstand impact from large pot holes even at moderate speed. You will buckle your wheel, no matter the brand of manufacture process.

I've had an OZ wheel shatter on me from less of an impact and OZ are very good quality indeed.

actually I hit a large pothole about 2.5"-3" deep( had nowhere to maneuver) going about 35mph...& stopped immediately afterwords...I was thinkin' my rims would have been bent & guess what - NO damage - 16x7 volk te-37's on 205/40 tires to quality Forged Aluminum - edited out pointless arguement

Race rims that are made to be as light as possible are easily bent on the street.

That's why some folks sport WORK rims on street and Spoon or other light forge wheels on the race track.

Cause **** happens.

You know those WORK wheels are heavy and cast too, right? The ever-popular Emotions are no better than a Rota in my book. WORK makes some forged models, but the most popular ones are those Emotions. Beautiful wheel, but it's no better than a Rota.

Also I'd rather bend a $110.00 wheel than a $385.00 wheel.

Rota = replaceable

Forged wheels = expensive and hard to buy in singles

I had to buy ONE Spoon wheel and I got lucky as hell looking for it. they come in boxes of two, so usually it's very hard to find a single wheel by itself.

I've had a set of Rotas on my fiancee's car for THREE years now and they hav not one single curb mark, pothole dent, etc. - if she can drive through ATL ****-streets daily for a few years while going to college, you guys shouldn't be ******* your wheels up.

Yes WORK rims are heavy.

Nicolas (the HK singer) crashed his Ferrari last summer, or the summer before. One rim was cracked in half The guy walked.

Please shut up and go away with your ignorance.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Hella JDM &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">you think volks would bend hitting a pothole at 35 mph? i dont think so .

Coming from THE notorious Rota hater, your comment doesn't mean **** to me.

I've seen bent Volks - they are not unbendable. you hit a ******* big pothole, you can bend a forged wheel.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by adirondackR &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">actually I hit a large pothole about 2.5"-3" deep( had nowhere to maneuver) going about 35mph...& stopped immediately afterwords...I was thinkin' my rims would have been bent & guess what - NO damage - 16x7 volk te-37's on 205/40 tires to quality Forged Aluminum rims - any cast wheel would have been bent... &lt;-----edit: I will try to get pics w/a measuring stick</TD></TR></TABLE>

...but your argument is pointless really because unless you take the exact same car, same speed, same pothole, etc. there's no point in saying your wheel would or would not have bent and a Rota would not have done the same.

As long as the topic's creator doesn't blame the wheel bending on the wheel quality I'm cool with that. At some point we all have to accept that we do make mistakes, and that sometimes a part's failure or failure to hold up is due to our own mistakes rather than a lack of quality.

I have Rotas. I have Spoons. I will buy another set of Rotas when the 15'' GT3 comes out too. I'd much rather have my Rotas stolen or damaged because they are easy as **** to replace.
