h23 came from non-vtec preludes. if it has a h22 head that means someone got the work done and put that head on it. it makes for a very strong engine (from what im told) and yes u will have significant gains over ur current f22. sorry i cant give u exact numbers. but i say go for it

look at the block code....there was a factory 2.3 vtec motor, but they're on the rare side...if it says h23a, then it's that motor....if it says h23a1, but has the DOHC VTEC head, then it's a swapped one.....and from what i've read, reliability is hard to come by with these engines
yeah i wouldn't take my chance with a H23 VTEC that is was converted. they are not easy to build as LS/VTECs. I believe the bottom end can't handle the high rpms.
The h23 came from either a 4g prelude or a euro accord. I think they had a wagon or something that came with a 2.3
At anyrate, it would be much easier to swap in an h22, parts are more plentiful, and they're a little easier to work on because more people know more about them than the h23.

h23a1 is the usdm 2.3 dohc non vtec in the 4th gen lude......h23a is the JDM (possibly other markets, but not USDM for sure) dohc vtec motor with vtec similar to i-vtec, dohc vtec, very similar to the h22a and made about the same power.....some had AWD trannies, some had FWD and came in the accord wagons in the late 90's/early 2000's i think...6th gen anyway.....since nearly 70% of wagon sales were from countries other than the usa, we never got to see one of these setups, which kinda sucks, they look pretty cool........not impossible to find, but no point in them......
