Default Port and Polish Question

I heard that you can loose power on a port and polish and the runners arent the exact same size. It can cause each cylinder to burn uneven and you loose power. IS this true?

you can lose power if the person who did it doesn't know what they are doing.

But even after you get it ported and polished you won't see the gains until it is tuned..

Hmm, that's funny coz on certain BVTEC heads some ports flow differently already.

I am doing a DIY port and polish on my B20 head and the casting was hideous. The casting lines were super thick and uneven. All I did on it was removed the casting lines and port match the manifold to the gasket. I dont think you will lose power if you do that.

the posrt are directional on all b series heads.None of the ports are the exact same length, but they will flow the same.If the head porter made the ports different sizes, you wont necessarily lose horsepower, but 1 cylinder might produce more than the next,You can lose power if the porter took off too much in certain parts of the port.
