nEW GENERATOR
I have a cracked generator cover and possibly a cracked generator casing any idea how much its gonna cost me to replace ? and is it a job i can do myself? I'm handy with tools but not a mechanic by nature

A generator cover? You mean stator cover? First question, can you get it off? Second question, can you see anything busted inside? If so, buy the part and replace it... what kind of bike do you have? I have the service manual for an F4i.

it a 2003 cbr 600rr
the strator is fine no damage.
i need to take the plastics off to assess the real damage but it looks like the inner engine case my be cracked. Do you think i can weld the crack or should i just replace the engine case which mean dismounting the whole engine!
