Default Turning the bike around on its kickstand

I only do this occasionaly. For instance when the bike is in the garage and two cars are parked in the driveway. Rather than try and manuver the bike backwards i flip it around on its kickstand... what i want to know is if doing that make the kickstand more vulnerable to break? I dont want to park it one day and have the bike fall over.

Thanks

No, it won't break it. It's a slick maneuver and as long as you are careful with it there is no problem.

Seeing that you have an R6 in your avatar, i know what you mean. The yamaha kickstands are so thin. When you sit on the bike with the stand down, it flexes. I pivot my r6 also alot, praying it wont break on me. Pivoting my r6 is a whole lot easier than other bikes. maybe its because the weight is more centered or towards the bottom. So far, ive never heard of a yamah kickstand breaking.

Coo... also the yamaha kickstand leans the bike a lot more than other bikes, atleast mine does.

i dont think it will break because my buddy has been doing it on his r6 for about a year and no sign of it being vulnerable or signs of weakness...

i know excatly what your talking about i have an r6 too but it is soooo much easier when you do this rather than manuevering the bike...

hope everything works out for you

I have recently read a couple of posts on other site about not the side stand breaking but the mount the side stand bolts to (this is usually a cast piece) breaking off leaving you with no side stand. Some of the arms themselves are made from cast on some bikes, not a piece of tubular metal. But it will not break while resting on the side stand if it is going to break it will be when you are turning it. When more weight then it was designed for in on it.
