Default Ran at the track for 1st time....SLOW

Whats up, I had a chance to run my car once at the track this weekend (crowded show) and I wanted to see what you all had to say on it. I didn't scan the timeslip yet, but trust me, I'd make up better numbers if I were lying.

r/t - .323
60' - 2.481
330 - 6.978
1/8 - 10.688 (sorry for the typo and getting various panties in a bunch)
mph - 66.49
1000 - 13.858
1/4 - 16.497
mph - 85.77

its a 97 d16y8 del sol, w/ I/h/e fpr ss.
1st time in drivers seat on a track.

launched at 3000rpm, wheels hopped all through 1st gear, but otherwise drove without any mistakes and passed the 1/4 at redline in 3rd gear.

I think with a few more runs, I could have gotten a 16 flat. But still, this sohc has got to go.....

If you knew how to drive you could be cutting easy 15.9's. Work on that 60ft...20psi in the front tires, 4,000 RPM, slip the clutch on the launch

dont be knocking on the sohc.. its got potential! Just gotta work out the kinks and learn how to drive before you decide to put a stronger engine in there...

Only one run...? That aint bad. Seat time and some slight adjustments will come in time.

BTW find some deserted area and practice some launches.

Its not the car, its you.

Whats does your car weigh?

Google for "et calculator" and "horsepower calculator."

Using the above you should be able to figure out what a good ET is for your car.

MPH is a good indication of what power you are making. Your MPH will be pretty consistent no matter how much you screw up the launch.

Just guessing about your setup and seeing that you ran 86mph, Id guess you could run a 15.9 with good traction. The reason you didnt is because of your crappy launch.

FWDs are hard to launch you need practice. Lots more strip time. Wheelspin=

Get those 60s down to 2.1s and you'll be much more satisfied.

yeah, 8.9 in 1/8 doesn't make sense. first 1/8 is when you're car is going slow and is picking up the most speed, so the last 1/8 should be much shorter. doesn't make sense that first 1/8 is as long as the second 1/8.

not necessarily... you can shift earlier and your mph will be higher but you et should be about the same... my friends jetta ran 15.0 at 86 mph, but also ran 15.0 at 92 mph because he shifted earlier...

but practice makes perfect... just keep going and you will bring that time down

8.9 in the 1/8 mile is bullshit, was this in va for nopi race wars? i was there and i think i saw a del sol run but not sure there were alot of cars there, r/t dosent mean **** if your racing the clock, you could sit there for 10 sec and still run a 1/4 mile in 16.4, only time r/t matters is when your bracket racing

Redline in third?

Next time shift into fourth sooner to give a quick acceleration over the line.

Hey yall...thanks for the critique and whatnot...I posted that at like 2am last night, so when I get home I'll check to see if I did mistype the 1/8 time.

Supercivic...yes this was at dinwidde

supposedly there is a .5 second delay between the last yellow light and green. This is also the time it takes your brain to respond to a visual stimuli with a physical reaction (ie eyes see green, brain tell foot to press go). So anything .5 or less is good. I just waited till I saw the last yellow light, then went for it. In the time it took me to start going, the green had come on
