1g b16a questions
just bought a 1g b16a powered 91 dx and i have a few questions. i don't think he swapped out the ecu with a jdm pr3 ecu, i think its the stock dx ecu. will this cause any issues with timing, fuel, vtec engagement? as this is going to b my autox car only i have only driven it a few times. he ghetto rigged most of the stuff so i am trying to get it all done right before start racing it. the car seems to pull very well but i don't feel comfortable racing it just yet. i don't know much about hondas, this being my first, so i am trying to learn. there are a few things the need to be fixed, but getting it running right is my main concern. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing it has to be rechipped ECU, I don't see a stock ECU for the 91 DX working with a B series, not at all. Correct me if I am wrong HTers.
Does your VTEC engage?
I recommend a either Hondata or A'pexi VAFC, get with a reputable tuner and have it Dyno tuned.

i was lead to believe that it wasn't chipped because it came with a chip for lowering vtec engagment point to 3800 that isn't installed yet. the reason i am asking about the ecu is that the car cuts off some times or has problems starting. it is acting like its not getting fuel sometimes. there could be a plethora of problems since it was all ghetto rigged. i am trying to fix all these problems. i am thinking its a fuel problem that has to do with the ecu or wiring. the next time i am at the shop i am gonna try and see if the ecu is pulling any error codes.
Theres no way its the stock ecu, the car would not run, even if chipped I believe. dpfi ecus are very different from mpfi ecus, much less D to B series. As for why your car is running like crap and hesitating, be sure your ignition components are good. Good plugs, wires, cap/rotor. Could also be switched O2 sensors, that makes the b16 run like *** as well. good luck.
